Shipping Update + New Zealand!

Hello you beautiful backers!

We just wanted to let you know we're still on track to have copies of Karmaka in most backers' hands in roughly one month. (A little ahead of our original schedule.) Details below, with a special treat for New Zealanders...

New Zealand

We've been working with Julia Schiller of Cheeky Parrot Games to handle Karmaka fulfillment in NZ. She has been absolutely wonderful to work with – and ordered enough additional copies to justify an ocean shipment of Karmaka directly to NZ. The great news is she has already received those copies and mailed them off to backers!

NZers can expect to receive their copies within the week! We look forward to your feedback!

US & Canada

Ships bearing Karmaka arrived in port in both Vancouver and LA, have cleared customs, and are making their way to Blackbox's warehouses. We expect them to arrive there within the week. Blackbox will need about 10 days to process the shipment and will then begin fulfilling orders. Our current ETA is for games to arrive on your doorstep in mid/late October.

EU

We expect this shipment to arrive in port in the UK in a few days. It'll take time to clear customs, move by ground-transport to Blackbox, get processed, and be mailed to backers. So our current ETA is for games to arrive on your doorstep in early November.

Rest Of World

This includes Asia, Australia, Non-EU Europe, South and Central America, Africa, etc. We'll be air-mailing your copies from SendFromChina, a facility in Shenzhen. We've already sent ourselves a test-run to make sure their packaging protects the games well.  This test should should arrive in a week, and we'll then fire copies off to backers, with an ETA of mid/late October.

Stay Tuned...

And that's the story for now. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook if you'd like more detailed news as it happens. Thanks again, and more soon!

Thank you Karmaka team! And speaking as a person who lives in New Zealand, we normally get stuff last or not at all. It's nice to be getting stuff early.

@Saodhar: That's right, Ukraine will be fulfilled by Air from China. The main reason why EU shipments are lumped together is because we are covering VAT/customs en masses at import, and then distribution happens within the EU with no additional tariff. Since Ukraine is outside of the EU, there's no VAT, etc.

@Ashley Nicole, @JBARR, @Dave Bouvier: Thanks for your comments. Rest assured, we will be working closely with Blackbox to ensure Karmaka backers get a top-notch fulfillment experience, with well-packaged games and solid support.

@Jonathan McDonnell: Different backers live in different parts of the world. Our manufacturing run was spread across five different shipments - big boats travelling over ocean to different parts of the world. New Zealand is (by planetary standards) very close to China, so their shipment arrived first. Canada and US arrive next (eastwards across the Pacific), and the EU-bound boat takes the most time (travelling west around southeast Asia, through the Indian ocean, clearing customs at Suez, then finally through Med and landing in the UK). Rather than make New Zealand backers wait until all boats land elsewhere, we began their fulfillment process immediately. Rest assured, we've done everything we can to get everyone's order fulfilled quickly. International shipping and distribution is not a trivial undertaking! :-)

Hm, it's always hard to guess if Ukraine is considered EU Europe. Officially it's not - so yay for earlier deliveries from China? :D

I am gonna be super honest. I like how this campaign has been run so far. You guys are amazing with your timing. First time I've seen that done with any of my kickstarters.

that being said, Black Box is awful. They don't respond to any customer service e-mails and if any of us have problems with fulfillment, we're probably gonna be waiting an additional 2 months or so. I am hopeful that since this campaign is better managed than Secret Hitler, if there's any hiccups they can take care of it and quickly, but it still scares me after dealing with them for Secret Hitler...

I don't understand why there is such a significant disconnect between some backers receiving their games mid September while others have to wait until November!

I think blackbox only ships in boxes...could be wrong though.

I noticed in the photos that the packaging for shipping is a padded envelope. Is this what Blackbox will be using to ship to US customers? If so, I ask you to reconsider shipping in boxes, not padded envelopes to avoid damage. It may cost a little more, but it will greatly reduce the number of games damaged in shipping.

If you do ship using envelopes instead of boxes and a backer receives a damaged game box and possibly contents, will the replacement game be shipped again in a padded envelope?

@eddy awesome news. I just received a different kickstarter package from blackbox a few weeks ago. Everyone was concerned though because the package was not sealed and many people had damaged boxes. One backer received an incomplete package that was tampered with. Will there be packing tape or something to ensure it is not tampered with? Or bubble wrap like the NZ shipper used?
