PLAY THE HP:T DEMO HERE
IMPORTANT: The demo for Healing Process: Tokyo was made by Sam, our director and composer. There are bugs. However, our new, extremely talented programmer Nick Howard (see below) has already started creating the official version of the game in Unity. This will be available to those rewarded with Beta access (coming December 2015). Please keep this in mind while playing this demo.
1) These should allow you to talk to the homeless man without getting into any trouble, and see the extra scenes in the bar, which most people have not seen up until this point.
2) The bus actually takes you to where you want to go. It didn't before, after the first time visiting both places. Up until this point, these were hard to see if you tried to throw the ball inside the house, it was a problem in my debug setup (a foolish shortcut which changes some variables, causing a messup in the game's logic).
The demo should now prove to be a fuller experience, so by all means - please play it!

Healing Process: Tokyo is a throwback to the interactive storytelling genre fused with more recent tropes from RPGs, sandboxes, and modern designs. It includes a nostalgic pixel art style that defines itself stylishly, featuring an extensive amount of voice acting and an immense world with a broad scope of areas to visit. The core concept takes a heavy amount of influence from the graphical adventures of Sierra Entertainment, but looks to expand upon the medium of interactive storytelling by adding numerous systems unfamiliar to the genre.
Healing Process tells the story of recovery from the mental illness that is depression and combating one's inner demons. Our protagonist Charles Russell, an experienced doctor and surgeon, has suffered the loss of his wife, causing a downward spiral in his life. After several surgeries resulting in failure, it becomes apparent that Charles' personal problems are affecting his professional life. Charles reluctantly decides to take a day's leave from his job in hopes of regaining his composure. This journey aims to explore a multitude of well developed characters and thought evoking themes that will be grounded in extensive real world research and interviews with doctors, and victims of depression.
- Explore a massive world simulating and based off of the real life Tokyo. Only those who search diligently will find the countless areas and easter eggs lovingly hidden in the game.
- Enjoy a game sporting a soundtrack that will exceed 2 and a half hours in length composed by none other than our versatile director Sam L. Jones as he captures the shifting tones and locales of Healing Process.
- Experience a MAJORITY of in game scenes with a wide voice cast directed to give the game even more personality. Meet 100's of specially designed and developed characters.
- With a truly immersive experience in mind, pledge to become an actual character in Charles' world and have your likeness used in the game!
- The player will guide Charles through an open world Tokyo by climbing, swimming, running, and utilizing various means of transportation as he explores new areas in the search for peace of mind.
- Charles' therapist will serve as a window to the bizarre world that is Charles' subconscious where his biggest fears and regrets manifest themselves as fearsome demons that you must slay.
- Making new friends in the real world will have a direct effect in this subconscious nightmare as a strong psyche lends to an empowered Charles, who will be able to defeat his inner demons with the help of his new-found companions.
As well as the director and creator of Healing Process, Sam is also composing the music. Here are two tracks from the 14-track demo soundtrack.
'An Incomplete Abode' - Home Theme.
'Final Thoughts' - Piano Composition.
Explanation of Goals
Current Condition of the Game, and how Kickstarter will help us.For the sake of our Kickstarter and providing a proof of concept to everyone, I- Sam Jones, the composer and director at Eclipse JP- have personally created the demo for Healing Process: Tokyo myself, despite not being a programmer. We will, however, upon a successful Kickstarter campaign, be able to afford to bring Nick Howard, my good friend and skilled programmer, onto the team to program the entirety of the game in Unity. I will then take a backseat with programming to focus on fine detailing our pixel art, creating the soundtrack, and directing our team.
Anyone who pledges at least £17 ($26 / €23 / 3100¥) will have Beta access to the game (starting in December 25th), and a forum which allows discussions about the beta, bugs, and will act as a platform for us to include ideas from fans too.
As a whole
We are five guys, with a deep passion for video games, and respect towards both modern and retro aesthetics. We rarely fight, and any conflict that occurs in the group is purely creative. The team takes their queue from a strong leader, and each member pulls their weight 100%. At the end of the day, we are five gamers with various skills, who want to create a great game that we can share and enjoy with ourselves and you. If all five of us are enjoying the game, and pushing ourselves to improve in our areas, we can surely make Healing Process: Tokyo a game that resonates with other like-minded people.
Sam L. Jones
Role: Director, Composer, Original Concept
Sam is an English gentleman, aged 24, living in Tokyo. He founded the company Eclipse JP, along with his wife, Kou in 2015 ( http://eclipsejapan.jp/ ). Eclipse JP specializes in video game composition and game development. While he is currently composing music for games such as Chickensword ( http://twitter.com/wtfmig ) , A Credible Tale ( http://overclockedgames.com ), Spooky Cave ( https://twitter.com/Polkm1 ) and various titles for Adam Tilley ( http://ajtilley.com ), in his spare time, Healing Process has been his second baby. From the concept's birth to the programming and export of the final demo, Sam has been putting in great effort to bring Healing Process to a stage presentable to you.
Sam's Most Influential Games: Cave Story+, Final Fantasy 8, Persona 2 / 3 / 4, Chrono Trigger and Breath of Fire IV.
Sam's Favorite Game Music: Persona 4 (Meguro Shoji), Final Fantasy 6 / 8 / 9 (Uematsu Nobuo), Jade Cocoon (Matsumae Kimitaka and Matsumae Manami), Chrono Trigger (Mitsuda Yasunori ), Wild Arms 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (Naruke Michiko).
Role: Pixel Artist and Animator
Igor Green ( http://grigoreen.tumblr.com/ ) is an extremely talented professional freelance pixel artist. Igor has a love towards the indie industry and pixel art in general, and has always aspired to work on a great game with good friends. With any luck, Healing Process: Tokyo will be that game. Most importantly, Igor is able to perform his duties as a pixel artist quickly and effectively, no matter when the deadline is.
Igor's most inspirational games: Dungeon of the Endless, Darkest Dungeon, Faster than Light, This War of Mine and Binding of Isaac.
Role: Concept Artist, Promotional Artist
Niho is our own personal artist, and illustrates art for HP:T swiftly and effectively upon command. Niho is skilled at many styles, which becomes immediately obvious upon visiting his Deviant Art page HERE. Not only does Niho deal with all of the art for Healing Process: Tokyo, he also has provided some nice piano playing for the Healing Process soundtrack (yet to be revealed). Niho also has his own personal designer accessory company, Mi-roquinerie.
Niho's Most Influential Games: Metal Gear Solid 4, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, The Witcher 2, Doom 3 and The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind.
Casey has an incredible eye for detail when it comes to creating a flowing and natural script. As well as creating the majority of the game's script and story, he also has the ability to edit Sam's illogical stories into something that resonates with the player and actually works in a cohesive plot. Put simply, without Casey to write original stories and script, edit and arrange Sam's incohesive thoughts, the game would suffer greatly.
Casey's Most Inspirational Games: Indigo Prophecy, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Bioshock Infinite, Heavy Rain, and Red Dead Redemption.
Upon successful funding, Nick will join our team and program HP:T in Unity. While the original demo was proof of concept by Sam, knowing Nick can achieve much better quality results in a fraction of the time, it would be suicide to not have him work on the game. Nick has some of his own games on display for sale at http://ikizami.itch.io/ so be sure to check these out.
Nick's Most Inspirational Games: 'Anything from the Touhou Project', Warcraft 3, Super Mario Bros. 3, Oblivion and To The Moon.

Risks and challenges
There aren't really any tangible 'risks' during the development of Healing Process: Tokyo, outside of unpredictable life events that plague us all. We have a diligent team who have been working hard for the last 8 months without any funding and who are dedicated to the project. Our philosophy at Eclipse JP is 'work hard at what you love'. Success can't be achieved without passion. Healing Process: Tokyo started out as a passion project with the goal of making a name for the company and it will end that way. But through funding, we'll be able to truly realize the scope of the game and acquire the assets necessary to provide a higher quality experience. Once such asset being the ability to hire on a dedicated programmer in place of Sam's... less than stellar programming.
Sam and I, Casey are working closely together to make sure his vision is conveyed coherently and masterfully. We are pitching ideas back and forth constantly to round out the already designed systems planned for the game. With Nick, Igor, and Niho helping us to bring them to life, there shouldn't be any trouble in the translation of ideas within the group. We will be working as a close-knit unit with Sam at the helm.
The real challenges of a game like this lie in the scope of the vision, especially when placed upon such a small development team. There are countless game assets and resources required; a hefty unique character amount, scheduling recordings for our voice talent, handcrafting a huge open world, and individualizing every quest-line, to name a few. We are all here, however, out of deeply seated ambition, and the burning desire to establish Eclipse JP as a name in the indie development market drives us onward. With your help and backing, you let us know that you not only have an interest in our product, but that you put your trust in our ability to create and deliver that product. That trust helps keep us motivated. We swear to not let you down.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
