Pacific 201 is a non-profit and fan-coordinated production that continues the legacy of fans creating their own adventures and dreams in the Star Trek universe, with full respect to Star Trek rights-holder CBS.
Pacific 201 tackles an entirely unseen era of Star Trek history, telling the tale of how Earth reestablishes itself as a positive interstellar influence after the devastating Romulan War. Forty years have passed since the cease-fire was signed, establishing the Romulan Neutral Zone, and officially ending the war. But the problems are far from over, as mistrust and a general wariness of the unknown have plagued humanity for years. That era is coming to a close as the children of those who fought in the war are tired of hiding from the galaxy. The time has come for Earth to regain its confidence and make a name for itself in the stars. Those hopes are embodied in the launching of Earth's newest flagship: the starship Pacific, which will embark on a bold mission towards a mysterious and uncharted region of space.
Our Kickstarter will allow us to make telling this story possible. We need to build sets, create costumes, and purchase the equipment necessary to give you a production worthy of the Star Trek community.
Pre-production for this film has already been well underway, but we've reached the limit of things we can buy out-of-pocket. Check out some of the stuff we've been up to so far:
Starships, Costumes, and Props:
Roughly 10% of our budget goes to processing fees, with another 10% fulfilling Kickstarter perks, so when we reach $20,000 that leaves us with approximately $16,000 left to produce this film. Where does that money go?
In order to make a worthy production, we're going to need some good cameras, lights, microphones, and software. We have tons of experience with all sorts of high-end gear, but to get the flexibility and quality we really want, we need to invest in new equipment.
We don't want to shoot this production on green screens. We want to make a film that looks REAL. And as such, we need to actually build physical sets. We've come up with some awesome cost-saving modular sets, which allow us to tell a bigger, more expansive story while keeping our set costs low.
Costumes and Props: $2,000
Pacific 201 has all-original costume designs for this unexplored era of Trek history. As such, we need to make all those costumes! We understand that even a good movie can look cheap with poorly-made or ill-fitting costumes, and we want to make sure we do it right.

Risks and challenges
Making a movie is one of the most temperamental and problematic of undertakings. However, we're flexible, adaptable, and very familiar with the unexpected costs, delays, disasters, and other nitty-gritty problems that pop up while making a movie.
We'll do our very best to overcome any and all challenges, but please forgive us for the occasional snag and production delay. Those sorts of things are natural for a project like this.
