Have you ever felt stalked by ads? Watch out, they are just the tip of an iceberg!
Trackers and ad-networks follow your browsing habits on all your devices and across all websites you visit. It’s not just anonymous data gathering, but detailed behavior profiling that is linked to your identity. The resulting personality profile reveals private, even intimate information about you.
Today this information is not only used to target personalized ads, online profiles also lead to many threats.
Aside from the invasion of your privacy, there are real life consequences when you are profiled online:
And there are many more risks. Check out these videos to learn more about tracking and resulting dangers.
eBlocker is the world´s first plug & play privacy solution for all your devices. It works on all platforms, browsers, apps - and even when you are mobile.
There is no software to install, simply plug and play. You just connect the eBlocker to your home network using the provided Ethernet cable. Once connected all web traffic is routed through the eBlocker for analysis.
Using daily updated blocking lists, eBlocker compares all requested URLs and automatically blocks all data-gathering services, trackers, and ads.
In addition, you can choose to let eBlocker hide your real IP-address by routing the traffic through the Tor network or via other commercial VPN providers.
After checking a page, eBlocker inserts the eBlocker activity icon indicating how many URLs were eblocked. This icon provides 1-click access to the eBlocker Controlbar.
Using the intuitive eBlocker Controlbar, you get full management control over how you want to reveal your data, where to see ads and when to hide your IP-address.
How to plug and play eBlocker
The eBlocker activity icon is displayed in the top corner of every web page. It gives you instant access to eBlocker’s intuitive user interface. From here, you can individually whitelist websites, check which trackers and ads tried to gather your data and much more.
eBlocker Software live in Action
eBlocker´s unique privacy features give you far superior protection and flexibility than other privacy products or services.
Today, there are many different approaches to protecting your privacy online. Private mode, browser plugins and Internet gateways - each one has its distinct advantages and disadvantages. Currently available privacy tools only work on certain devices, need expert know-how to install and are generally difficult to configure correctly.
eBlocker is the complete plug & play privacy solution for everyone. Now you can conveniently protect all your devices at once, add parental control features and smart device anti-spy functionalities.
Regular ad-blockers only fool you by making ads invisible. However, you are still being profiled, putting your privacy at risk. eBlocker eliminates this and other dangers and ensures that you are never profiled - neither by trackers nor by ads, nor by revealing your real IP-address.
All eBlockers are based on the same proven hardware architecture. They only differ in functionality and the included update license.
eBlocker´s heart is an open source single board computer running our Linux-based eBlockerOS. The current hardware features a Banana Pi M2 with quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor and 1 GB RAM. Paired with eBlockerOS, this duo enables real-time traffic analysis for up to 200Mbit/s Internet bandwidth.
Depending on availability and market development we might upgrade the single board computer to a better/faster version that supersedes the specifications below. We are currently testing the latest Banana Pi M3 and might opt for this board for series production if quality and sourcing expectations can be met.

100 000 € Stretch Goal: Internal WLAN Antenna - REACHED -
If we reach this target we will add an internal WLAN antenna to all devices.
Using the antenna you are even more flexible to connect your eBlocker:
- You can optionally set up eBlocker as a (separate) WLAN access point to your LAN where all wirelessly connected devices are automatically protected. This is useful when the wired LAN should not profit from the eBlocker – i.e. when you are in a hotel or in an enterprise environment or at a friend’s house – but you want eBlocker protection for your wireless devices (not using our eBlocker Mobile App).
- Alternatively you can use the eBlocker with the antenna also as a WLAN client/bridge and connect your device by Ethernet wire while the eBlocker is connected to your WLAN.
Both methods should theoretically work but we have not yet tested them. The good news is that we are very confident that we can offer these features once everything else is at v1.0. We’ll keep you posted about the progress.
125 000 € Stretch Goal: Malicious Sites Protection - REACHED -
If we reach this goal, we will implement an additional module for blocking malware, phishing and other malicious sites. We will also maintain this blocking lists on a daily basis. Enabling this module protects you and your family from lots of dangerous websites that try to harm your device – or your pocket.
500 000 € Stetch Goal: Best Price Assistant
Today you can use eBlocker’s Device Cloaking feature to trick out websites, which use dynamic pricing based on device identification. Currently it’s still a manual procedure to find the best price. In addition, there are some shop-specific tricks that can be used to get the best price. With the new feature Best Price Assistant we’ll try to automate those tricks to get the best price for you.
The whole team is confident that we can implement a good solution. However, we are lacking development manpower to finish the feature until delivery. The next development talent we hire will focus on the Best Price Assistant and if he/she is on board soon, we are planning to deliver a first version in Q4 which will be distributed via auto updates to your eBlocker.
We are a Start-up based in Hamburg, Germany consisting of an interdisciplinary team of senior developers, IT-security experts, and eBusiness managers. For more than two years, we have been working on our eBlocker together.
Christian Bennefeld, former co-founder of the web-tracking firm “etracker” and Boris Prinz, former IT-security contractor, envisioned the idea for a comprehensive home privacy solution in 2013. Since then they have worked relentlessly to make their dream come true and founded eBlocker.
Today we have assembled a skilled team, released several prototypes and acquired hundreds of early adaptors that are helping us to progress. Now the core software is almost feature complete, and we are targeting series production together with the Kickstarter community.
From humble beginnings in 2013 experimenting with different boards and assembling the first eBlocker prototypes, we have spent thousands of man hours developing and testing the eBlocker.

Even a small series production is very expensive. With your help, we are primarily looking to cover most of these costs.
Following a significant investment by the founders, we have received a small initial seed funding and have successfully raised $100k from early adopters via Indiegogo to cover the cost of our first pre-series batch.
While this is a great start, it is not enough to commence with series production. When it comes to paying high up-fronts for tooling, manufacturing and supply partners, our strategy is to ensure liquidity by pre-selling our first units at cost. This helps us to reduce the risk of failure resulting from a lack of customer response. For our next steps, the success of our Kickstarter campaign is crucial.
With your support, we can begin series production. If we surpass our goal, we can also invest in hiring more talent, to speed up software and business development. The tooling and set-up for the enclosure injection molds alone will cost about €70k (approx. $77k). Most other expenses can be offset by the existing number of pre-orders. That is why we have chosen the minimum amount of €75k as our Kickstarter project goal.
We would have loved to price all products in US dollars, but due to Kickstarter regulations we are bound to Euros, as we are based out of Germany. For EU citizens all prices mentioned here include VAT, as this is mandatory in the EU. For supporters outside the EU all prices exclude VAT and your purchase may be subject to VAT/sales tax in your local currency. To compensate this disadvantage for our non-EU supporters, we offer FREE shipping of all our products to your door (a $25 value). Within the EU we need to charge 10 € to cover shipping costs.

Risks and challenges
We are a team of very experienced software developers, but this is our first hardware project.
In terms of software we have proven our expertise and are very confident, that we will implement all new features in time and to great satisfaction. The risk of failure is very low, but as this is software development not everything may be ready on the initially planned release date.
Regarding the hardware we have learned our first lessons with our Indiegogo prototype. But we still see challenges in the manufacturing process of the enclosure, assembly and quality assurance. Although we are working with qualified German partners in production and assembly, we can’t predict whether they will meet our quality expectations. If we need to refine the process or find other partners to improve product quality the delivery might get delayed.
As we are selling eBlocker to a worldwide community, we need to comply with different local technical regulations and may require certifications. Although eBlocker is based on a single-board computer that is already being sold worldwide and thereby promises to meet all certification requirements, we must verify all certifications. The duration of this process can vary from a few days to a few months, if the need to recertify or obtain new certifications arises.
Overall the only risk is not holding the schedule so deliveries get delayed. This can also happen if we are overly successful and parts for ordered rewards are not available due to delays in the supply chain.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
