About this project
No matter race, creed, gender, or empire – each child of Gamedor is born with an affinity to one of The Four Suits: Card, Meeple, Die, or Token. In love and war these suits are absolutely meaningless, but in game, well, they mean everything. A true Lord of Gamedor uses their cards, and any means necessary, to gain the favor of Heroes of the land. Can you best the other Lords of Gamedor and build the biggest party of Heroes?

The objective of Heroes and Tricks is to be the Player to win the most tricks (thereby having the most Heroes) in the game. Each Trick is lead by a Hero card that defines the target suit and color, dramatically changing the play dynamic of typical trick taking games. Players then play into the trick, but only see the last played card and need to use deduction, item play, and hand management to win the most tricks.

We have developed a unique, custom, magnetic box so Heroes and Tricks can be played anywhere at anytime. The game is designed to minimize the need to memorize the state of the game, letting players play their cards as the box comes to them.

While we couldn't accommodate sleeves in the game box (as its size is part of gameplay), we are able to provide a second, empty copy of the box with your shipment. You'll be able to play out of one of the boxes but store the game in the two. If you would like a second, empty box added to your pledge, add $10 for US and $12 for International. We'll ask for an additional note during the survey process.
Risks and challenges
Heroes and Tricks is Pencil First Game's fourth Kickstarter. Lift Off! Get Me Off This Planet!, The Siblings Trouble, and GemPacked Cards all funded and were successfully shipped to backers (TST and GPC both shipped early). I strive to run excellent Kickstarters and delivery fantastic products.
Heroes and Tricks is well tested and balanced. The graphic design is complete and 75% of the card art is final. Box and instructions are near final and we have been working closely with our printer.
There are inherent risks whenever undertaking a project as complex and large as producing and distributing a board game, but I have been making complex projects with countless moving parts and large budgets most of my career. I've gone out of my way to surround myself with experienced board game developers, distributors, and people who have run and launched successful Kickstarters. This team of friends has been exceedingly supportive and I'm sure will help as we hit any upcoming bumps in the road. And there are bumps. Strikes, shortages, shipping delays are all hard to predict.
Most importantly, if something does go wrong, I will keep everyone in the loop as the project moves forward and comes to market. This game will exist because you all will have made it happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
