Robot Royale is a tile-based strategic combat game for 2-4 players. Players aim to claim victory through moving and positioning their robots and rotating tiles to trap and destroy their opponents, scoring points each time they do.
Robot Royale has core mechanics that are easy to learn and quick to play, but is also robust enough to have tactical depth and encourage competitive play. The game has a very high replay value due to the interchangeable tile layouts and the choices made during play.
In Robot Royale each player controls a robot who is seeking to hunt down opposing robots and destroy them, claiming victory. This is achieved simply by drawing line of sight to an opposing robot during their turn. The arena however is designed to make this difficult, 16 square tiles each comprised of four spaces with walls and falling floors restricting the robots' movement.
Players move their robot in straight lines and rotate tiles to change the layout of the arena to their advantage, creating routes to allow them to destroy another robot or limiting an opponent’s possible moves and trapping them. Another feature of the arena is that once a robot leaves a space it falls away leaving a space that cannot be occupied. As the game progresses these spaces reduce the robots’ possible moves, forcing them together into a final showdown.
A game of Robot Royale is won when a player reaches their goal, three points in an average game.
In addition to the core rules we also have stretch goals, which we hope to achieve to include additional gameplay elements such as; alternate win conditions, unique player abilities, new game modes and unique tiles with special effects.
Included in the base game of Robot Royale:
- 4x Different coloured robot player pieces
- 16x Floor tiles. 8 Different designs
- 45x Fallen Floor tokens
- 9x Kill point markers
- Instructions to play the game
We want to create the best board game we possibly can. However, we also know that some of what we want to achieve comes with a cost. If we reach the following stretch goals, they will become unlock and applied to all copies of the game (unless otherwise stated).

UK Games Expo 2018
We attended the UK Games Expo on May 31st - June 3rd, previewing our game to members of the press and demonstrating Robot Royale to the public. We received a fantastic response that was overwhelmingly positive with hundreds of demos taking place over the weekend.
This is what some of our players enjoyed about Robot Royale:
'The rules are incredibly straightforward but the depth is in the strategy' - Pete & Dylan
'You're always active, paying attention as the arena can change in an instant!' - Phoenix
'It's easy to pick up and it looks great!' - Claire
'I enjoyed all of it, especially winning!' - Imogen
'This kind of game isn't usually my kind of thing but I really enjoyed it! It has a good pace that really picks up towards the end' - Matt
'The artwork is fantastic!' - Tom Vasel, Dice Tower
We have chosen Kickstarter as the platform to launch our game due to the amount of resources required and cost involved with printing a first run of a board game. As a small company we need to first determine the demand for our product before paying the setup costs to produce the game. With Kickstarter we can accurately manage how many copies are required and forecast for further demand. Kickstarter also allows us to reach customers who may not have been previously aware of our project.
East Street Games is an independent tabletop games company based in Croydon, London. We design, develop and publish exciting board, card and miniature games. We have previously released tabletop miniature wargames Valhalla and Bullets & Brains and we are currently focused on releasing board games such as this and other upcoming board games to be previewed soon.

Risks and challenges
As with all projects there are some risks and we have taken these into account. We are a small company and this is East Street Games' first Kickstarter project, and although we have previous experience in dealing with certain aspects of a Kickstarter campaign we haven't ran one from concept to completion.
Therefore we have kept the campaign simple and achievable with regards to pledges and stretch goals so we can ensure that we have the resources to fulfill the project even if it becomes more successful than expected. We have also chosen an intended fulfillment date that has accounted for possible delays in production or other unforeseen circumstances meaning that should something minor set us back we can still aim for you to receive your rewards when you expected.
We intend to communicate to you both positive and negative developments so that you may stay informed throughout the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
