With your pledge, the Eastern Addition will produce a dinner series that will explore a different regional Asian specialty each month. Chef Tim Luym will curate a roster of unsung and overlooked heroes to guide the eater through a culinary tour. The Eastern Addition will begin on October 17, 2012, at Vinyl Cafe in the Western Addition and will meet every Wednesday for 3 months.
The cuisines of the Far East date back thousands of years and can often be misunderstood or misinterpreted in today’s Food Networked frenzied foodies trend the Eastern Addition is here to help bridge the gap and tie the past with the present.
Street foods from all over the world have been growing in popularity and it is often easy to forget the pioneers of the game and the masters of the trade. The Eastern Addition pays homage to the O.G.’s, the Jiro’s (Dreams of Sushi), the small restaurant owner, the home cook (a.k.a. mom), to study the roots in order to further the art and cuisine.
In the first month of the Eastern Addition, Chef Tim Luym collaborates with Tak Matsuba, former owner of Bushi-Tei.
In the second month, the Eastern Addition will explore Burmese food with Dennis Lin of Burmese Kitchen. In the third month of the Eastern Addition, Tim Luym will have a "special surprise."
The monies raised for our Kickstarter will go to compensating the chefs, pay venue rental fees, hire servers and additional staff, ingredient costs, fund the kick-off party, and all associated fees to produce a 3 month pop-up series + kick-off party of this caliber.
This Kickstarter fundraiser is all or nothing: if we do not not reach our goal, we will not receive any of the donations pledged and your credit card will not be charged. If we do reach our goal, your pledge will go towards making the Eastern Addition a reality!
