Nut Job is a very clever memory game for adults to play with adults; kids to play with kids; parents to play with kids; and grandparents to play with kids -- and it will even challenge “gamers.” When we decided to acquire the rights to publish Nut Job, it also got us thinking (again) about the fact that only some games work with all the above groups (while many do not).
As the owners of Eagle-Gryphon Games (EGG) for the past 12 years, and Funagain Games prior to that (for a total of 22 years in the games business), and having been former educators as well, Joanne and Rick Soued played and review literally thousands of games. They have used games in the classroom and for after-school clubs; for social, seniors and university groups; and in general for fundraisers and other diverse and numerous group events. As a result they know that certain games really work well as Kids Games For Adults (KGFA). Rick notes:
"We realized that publishing Nut Job would give us a nice opportunity to offer a Kickstarter project both to raise the funds needed for the production of Nut Job and to offer you, our terrific Backers, some great games that we have published in the past few years -- at really great prices. Thanks for supporting Nut Job and all the great Kids Games For Adults we are offering."
What Makes These "Kids Games For Adults"?
We have scoured our inventory and we think we have chosen a great variety of games that fit the KGFA criteria:
They are fun, fast to play and encourage creativity
- They can be played by kids/kids; adults/kids; adults/adults and they work well for all of these combos
- The rules are generally very short and the games are quick to learn
- These games have lots of "replayability"
We want to publish and deliver Nut Job, and any other games you add to your Nut Job pledge, to you in reasonable time for the holiday and gift giving season. Nut Job will be a quick game to produce (the package is printed and assembled in the USA) so we expect minimal delays.
Unfortunately for those outside of the USA and Canada and Mexico, the terms of our license to produce Nut Job prohibit us from selling it outside those countries, but many of the “add-ons” we are offering can be purchased in the EU, Asia and Australia. (Please see more info below.)
The PledgeManager (PM) add-on games will become available to order on approximately July 27. These games will be made available to Backers in the EU, Asia and Australia based on what is available in our warehouses in each of those locations. We will ship your PM selections to you between August 15 and September 1, so there will be no extra waiting time at all for Backers in the EU, Asia and Australia! (Please see more info below in the Add-Ons section.)
This "Kids Games for Adults" Kickstarter is tied directly into our Knowledge in a Box program and series of games. Modern tabletop games are a fun, effective and engaging way to learn everything from facts to figures and from concepts to philosophies. Games make learning come alive as players compete, cooperate, learn from experience and develop strategies to meet their changing circumstances, all within a dynamic social environment. One of our goals is to help schools and libraries become vibrant learning centers, welcoming the students and patrons who are looking for a place to learn, play and socialize, and so the Knowledge in a Box program was developed.
Some Knowledge in a Box games have historical themes that introduce or build upon knowledge of a certain time period. Others have an artistic theme or mechanic that calls upon a broad ability to think and act creatively. Whether focusing on specific curricular knowledge or employing more generalized critical-thinking skills, games have a connection to real-world situations that drive learning well beyond what is possible with more passive activities.

Look for the 2018 Games Designer's Toolkit coming to Kickstarter from Eagle-Gryphon Games in the latter part of 2018.
Do you have an idea for a game? The Game Designer's Toolkit is a great way to acquire a variety of components to create prototypes for your next great game idea. From dice to miniatures to blank cards, the Game Designer's Toolkit will be packed with an assortment of sought after components.
Based on prior experience, we have decided to charge you the actual shipping cost upon the conclusion of this Kickstarter. We will collect this via our pledge manager after the campaign has ended. We feel that this is the fairest approach, to both you as a backer and to us as the publisher.
Below is a chart with estimates that should be very close to what many of the actual shipping costs will be:
*WE DO NOT SHIP TO: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan
Risks and challenges
Eagle-Gryphon Games stands by our products. If there are issues with your game, please contact our customer service department within 30 days of receiving your copy of the game that you have pledged for. We will take every step necessary to get you exactly what you purchased. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Shipping issues are relatively uncommon, but they do sometimes occur, especially when shipping to destinations outside of the US. We will send you tracking information when it is possible, but sometimes it is not. We cannot guarantee that there will not be local shipping problems, as we cannot guarantee the service and reliability of the various postal/delivery services involved around the world. You will have to assume that risk along with us.
We double check all of your games for damage before packing them up to send to you. However there is a small chance that your games may get damaged during shipping by the carrier. Please keep in mind that we did not cause that damage, nor are we responsible for it. If your package is damaged then your first recourse should be to recover your losses from the carrier, not us. If you are still struggling to find a solution through your carrier then we can try to assist you.
We will always do our best through Kickstarter updates to keep you as informed as possible to the status of your game(s). However, in this business there are a number of uncertain and ever changing factors that are beyond our control, such as: holidays, customs, quality control, inspection delays, inclement weather and dock strikes - to name a few. As you can imagine we have little to no control over such factors, but if anything does occur we assure you that you will be the first to know.
To put it simply, you will get everything you are promised when you pledge to one of our Kickstarter Projects, and it will be delivered to you in as timely a manner as possible.
Shipping is far more comprehensive than many people realize. Not only does “shipping” include the postage cost, it also includes: getting the container shipped to the US, or the EU, or Australia; in some cases, the Customs and VAT (which we are not generally responsible for payment of) and other import fees and taxes; the drayage from the port to the warehouse; the warehouse fees to unload and sort out and prepare packages; the materials and labor involved in the last item; fees to the warehouse for their service to us. Only after all of that do we consider the postage! We need to cover all of those costs--and they really add up. Frequently they cost as much or more than the game(s) did to produce.
When we combine a low margin price (such as the one we offer on all of our KS projects) with this shipping expense, we do not make any profit if we are not very careful. We hope that the shipping we are charging for this project is as low as we can make it and still stay in business. We ask that you understand this, and when we occasionally make mistakes in quoting shipping expenses, please be tolerant. We will give you a refund if we must make shipping fee changes and they are not acceptable to you.
To get in touch with us, please send us a Message (not a Comment) using the "Contact Me" button at the top of the KS project. Or email us at: email@example.com
We will not ship to Russia, the Ukraine and select places in Asia and the rest of the world, except for specially-made arrangements wherein the Backer takes the risk involved in receiving the package.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
