The Eagle and Child has been making music since 2011.
Brad, Nick, Luke and Spencer are four buddies who love God and want to make music that assists in the church being healthy, have depth and be effective. After a few years of playing their sophomore album, All Moments, it’s time to share our new tunes!
The new project is a concept album, meaning the stories of in the songs tie together in the album sequence to form a bigger story- something we've always dreamed about making. We’ve partnered with Brian Eichelberger to produce it (he made ‘All Moments’ as well as other projects, and we LOVE THE GUY) and collaborated with a handful of other wonderful friends (Zach Bolen, Hailey Mitsui, Nate Furtado, Zach Foty, and almost 300 campers at Hume Lake, and an orchestra in Budapest, Hungary!).
THE CONCEPT FOR THE RECORD.
In my (Brad) past relationships in my Christian faith, it was extremely easy for me to keep my faith in the theoretical realm. I had ideas about who God was, and had discussions with friends about who God was, what behaviors we were and weren't allowed to do, which denominations are the strangest or most off-base, etc...
But in the last few years, after a handful of life changing experiences, I began to awaken to the brokenness of the world around me. I realized that my theories of faith were actually useless in the face of the brokenness. Not because of a lack of faith or effort, but a lack of understanding that the Spirit of God lives in me LITERALLY- and that fact changes EVERYTHING about reality, and my role in brokenness. So rather than sitting and debating creation, or worry about doubt or behavior management, this record is a plea to the Church, to SEE who God is, to SEE the reality of the nation and world (which requires learning from voices that are outside our circles), to SEE the ways the Church has caused hurt- and lament that reality, and to SEE our role in the promised restoration of all things. That is why we have decided to call our new album "SEE".
Risks and challenges
Making music, and art professionally is alway a risk. It is a beautiful gift, and also a huge responsibility. We have partnered with different friends and mentors to help us push this album as far as we possibly can, and get it into as many ears as possible. We believe deeply in this album, and believe that it deserves the hardest push that we can give it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
