Electric Six and Kickstarter - The Final Chapter
Electric Six unveiled its first Kickstarter project almost 6 years ago, in 2013. It was a live concert film of a show at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit, but the idea emerged out of a planned film of a concert in London, England which was derailed when the company engaged to film it ended up pulling out of the project. So we thought it was time to bring it all full circle. Electric Six has engaged in five previous Kickstarter campaigns and the sixth one will be the last one. Six bodies on stage in Electric Six. Six senses. Six Kickstarter campaigns. No better way to celebrate all that we, Electric Six and YOU, its fans, have accomplished together than by bringing it all back home in a sense and filming a live show in England, a place which has given so much to us over the years and which in a relatively direct way sparked the very idea of these projects.
"Live In Liverpool" is exactly that, a film of a concert to take place on May 18 at Arts Club Liverpool. Much like "Absolute Treasure," the band's previous live concert film, "Live In Liverpool" will be a multi-camera shoot with some behind the scenes material included alongside the concert itself. We'll be producing DVDs and Blu Ray versions, as well as digital only formats of the film (those who pledge for physical formats will also receive a digital copy). Additionally, we're going to provide every pledger with a CD and digital download version of the concert, for those moments when you just want to listen to the music undistracted by the overpowering beauty of Electric Six's collective visage. The set will once again be a unique one, as we've done with all of our live projects over the years. You will get some of the classics you've all come to expect, but we'll bust out some newer material and some deep cutz as well...and there's always the wildcard of the pledger selected material to account for as well. It's guaranteed to be a unique set the likes of which you haven't experienced before in its totality. We first played this venue in 2003, so we're bringing it all back home in that way as well. After careful consideration, we felt an intimate setting such as the one the Arts Club will offer should lend itself to a fantastic night and a great concert recording. We also remember how our UK and European fans felt they missed out years ago on the opportunity to be at a gig which would be filmed for release, to perhaps see their own faces on a screen, in ecstasy as they witness Electric Six...the circle will now be complete. To give you a partial preview of the songs we'll play, here are 8 which will definitely make it into the set, a mix of old favorites and new material, none of which have been on any of our live recordings previously:
Bride Of The Devil
Daddy’s Boy
How Dare You
She’s Guatemalan
Bite Me
Mr. Woman
Dance Pattern
Lenny Kravitz
As usual, we expect to add lots of others via this campaign, between pledgers and pledger voting.
As this is the last Kickstarter project we'll do, we're including many of the old favorite packages to make sure those interested fans get one more opportunity to get items or experiences they've wanted, but we're also rotating some stuff out and including some new ideas, given that it's the final campaign.
The biggest news is an item we've never offered before as a part of a Kickstarter campaign...Electric Six LIVE in the location of your choice. See the reward section for details on this, as there are some conditions we unfortunately have to apply, most importantly that we have to limit it to the continental United States (it gets too complicated overseas, sadly). This will be the full band playing a "real" show...nothing stripped down, nothing acoustic...provided you've got the space and the gear to make it happen.
We're offering another Dick Valentine original, this time he'll create a suitable-for-framing larger size lyric sheet of the E6 song of your choice, complete with symbols and renderings in the margins which will make the words come even further alive.
A new item this time around is a special four poster package. These posters will be conventional glossy "poster" style (not screenprints) and will include two gig posters done by Tom Deja, who's done much of our artwork over the years (one of which will be for the Liverpool show), as well as "Bride Of The Devil" and "Daddy's Boy" posters by Nick Bataran. Get a slice of E6 past and present in poster form.

We're going to produce a photobook of the the Live In Liverpool show, which will also include some historical shots mixed in for good measure. It'll be a mix of behind-the-scenes shots, photos of live performance and text, with most of the photos never before seen.
We're also offering some more conventional "merch" items, things we haven't done in the past (at least not everywhere), such as tote bags, pin sets, etc.
Old favorites include the opportunity to select a song for the show in Liverpool, or to perform with us at that show. If you don't play an instrument, don't worry, we'll get you on that stage with a mic in your grill one way or the other. You can also select a song to be played as part of the Liverpool show, provided its an Electric Six song from one of the studio (i.e. non-Kickstarter and non-"Sexy Trash") records. We're also once again including a package where you can select a song for the band to cover and we'll make the results part of the subscription club package which any pledger can add to their rewards for $20 (those making pledges for packages of $500 or more once again will automatically be enrolled in the subscription club). You can also pledge to perform along with us on one of these recordings (either pledger or band selected, as we'll be doing some covers for the subscription club regardless)...we've had a ton of fun with these in the past.

We're also doing a third volume of the popular E6 Karaoke series. This disc is anticipated to include the following songs (as always, subject to change but this is what we think it'll look like):
Infected Girls
Slices Of You
I Buy The Drugs
Dirty Ball
Escape From Ohio
Clusterfuck
Free Samples
Kids Are Evil
Arrive Alive
How Dare You
Bride Of The Devil
Daddy’s Boy
There are lots of Dick Valentine-specific packages once again on offer. You haven't truly seen yourself until you've done so through the prism of a DV portrait of YOU. Want to learn how to write songs the Valentine way? There's a package for that. Name a character in his latest psycho-pornographic-noir-thriller, or take him on in a round of golf...it's all there one more time.

The Subscription Club is once again an add on option for $20 (or free if you're pledging for a package of $500 or more). It'll feature outtakes, different mixes, photos and any of the covers we end up recording. For clarification purposes, the Subscription Club is a one year deal, so if you pledged for it last time, that one will end with December 2018's material, so doing so again in this campaign will get you access to the Club material for 2019 (4 times during the course of the year).
Be part of the magic, one more time, with Electric Six and Kickstarter. Join us as we document "Live In Liverpool" along with the most important people in the equation, you, the fans of Electric Six. As with so many other great things...the television series "M*A*S*H," the rotary phone and civility being but three examples...Electric Six and Kickstarter has reached the Final Chapter. Write it along with us!
A couple of important things to note. First, for any of the "experiential" packages, such as encores, dinner and a producer, etc...these must be cashed in during calendar 2019. We've been relaxed about that in previous campaigns but this time must insist that they be used within the 2019 touring schedule...this helps us keep track of outstanding obligations and allows us to plan in a more productive fashion. For US and Canadian fans, figure that we'll be in all the usual places (and if you have a question about a particular city, send us a message). For the UK, Ireland and Europe, we've announced our UK/Ireland shows for November 2019 and some of the European shows. German dates (several of them) will be going up soon and we will once again be in Paris, St. Petersburg and Moscow. There will likely be a few additional shows in May in the UK and Ireland...again, if you have questions about this relating to one of the packages, send us a message and we can work with you to confirm that we'll be in your area. Unfortunately, we do not have any other areas of the world (Australia most notably) on the schedule as of now and don't anticipate that changing as of this writing, though we certainly wish it would.
Second, every year we have some non US pledgers distressed to discover when their packages arrive that they've been assessed customs charges by their local governmental authority. Please note there is NOTHING we can do about this. We are required by US law to mark packages accurately for customs purposes and we do so. See the project FAQ for more on this.
Risks and challenges
The "challenges" we face mostly surround fulfillment. Having mounted previous successful campaigns, we are confident that this project will be similarly successful. A certain percentage of pledgers from outside the US face issues with customs charges attaching to their rewards and that may occur again in this campaign. Again, there is NOTHING we can do about these charges, as we are required by US law to mark them accurately for customs purposes. If customs charges are objectionable to you, you owe it to yourself to investigate what they may be in your country and make pledging decisions accordingly. See the project FAQs for further discussion of this issue for non-US pledgers. We generally have outstanding success with packages arriving on the first go-around. Those that don't arrive receive a second attempt. The number of packages which truly have been "lost" over the previous five campaigns combined can be counted on one hand.
