A heavy heart and a bruised ego... but E3 will carry on

To all of our backers... THANK YOU!!!

We obviously did not make it on Kickstarter.  We do not believe there is a major problem with our products or platform; rather, we think there is something wrong with our message.  Maybe KS is just a numbers game.  If that is the case, we obviously did not reach the masses.

Please know that while we are licking our wounds... WE ARE NOT GIVING UP!  We hope to bring the Processor Independent Embedded Platform to market, one way or another.

Here is a list of great reviews... the most thorough one comes from 'The Makers Workbench' (link 2 below).

Please share these reviews with those interested in embedded controls.  Also, please check out our Facebook page and website once a month to view what Kevin and I are up to.

Thanks again,

Chad with E3.

PEIP, meet Linux... Linux, this is PIEP

Kevin and I decided to offer a Linux compatible processor board for the Processor Independent Embedded Platform (PIEP) in 2015. It will almost certainly be in the form of an adapter that allows an existing commercial product to work our system.  We are still not sure exactly what processor/product that will be.  Right now we are looking at Pi & DAQ oriented COM boards.  There are a number of variables to consider such as resources/capabilities, cost, market share, ease of integration, ability to securely mount the processor, etc.

Despite all the things we still need to iron out, we are very excited about this project.  It will bring the Processor Independent Embedded Platform to a whole new group of developers.  If you are a Linux champion, we'd love to hear your ideas.  If you love the Linux/PIEP concept, please consider supporting this campaign!

Thanks,

Chad with E3 Embedded

Two Items Involving E3 Products

Posted by E3 Embedded Systems, LLC (Creator)

ONE

We added a $140 reward - The AVR BASIC KIT.  You get:

  • 4x4 Motherboard
  • AVR (ATMegaX) Processor Board (NEW)
  • USB Peripheral Board
  • Breakout Peripheral Board
  • Switch/LED Peripheral Board

We cannot ship the reward until March, 2015 because the processor board needs to be designed and tested.

TWO

We wanted to give you a hint of our stretch goals.  We have not decided the $ amount for this stretch goal, but it will not be too far above our initial goal. We are calling it Tech Bundle 1. If we hit the goal, we will commit to designing, testing and selling (in 2015) 4 of the 6 products listed below.

  • 2x4 Motherboard - Fewer peripherals but smaller form factor, (this will definitely make the cut)
  • BeagleBone Adapter - Similar to the Arduino Shield
  • Tiny Circuits Adapter - Similar to the Arduino Shield
  • LCD Display
  • Flash Memory
  • Ethernet Adapter

Fantastic Overview of the PIEP on the Makers Workbench and an Article from Electronic Design

We are thrilled with Charles Gannt's article - http://bit.ly/makerswb.  Charles calls this an overview but the article has a lot of information.  The PIEP was also discussed on electronicdesign.com in an article by Bill Wong - http://bit.ly/e3elecdesign.  Please share these with your friends!
