Publishing is a tough business, no matter which side of the table you are on. Even authors with a big following can find themselves with a manuscript that the big houses just aren't buying.
A hard fact, but one that works in our favor as we at eSpec get to work with some pretty amazing authors, ones that regularly appear on the list of Nebula finalists and on bestsellers lists.
These books are by two amazing authors, Bud Sparhawk and Christoher L. Bennett, both literary powerhouses bringing you great sci fi stories.
Shattered Dreams by Bud SparhawkWhat Happens When Very Little Survives First Contact?
Settling on a colony planet is hard, building a life and conquering a new frontier far from the cradle of humanity, where contact is infrequent and supply drops even more so. Colonists must depend on their grit and ingenuity.
When a garbled message is received by unconventional means, warning of an alien attack, many on Morrow think it a joke, or spotty communication. No one can believe what they are hearing.
There is no time to reconsider as flashes light up across the planet’s horizon. Not even knowing they aren’t alone in the universe, humanity falls victim to first contact and very few on Morrow are left alive, somehow overlooked by an alien force bent on their destruction. As they struggle to survive and avoid notice they are oblivious to the deadly war being waged on a universal scale.
Humanity shows its will to survive the Shardies War.
Among the Wild Cybers by Christopher L. Bennett
Tales Beyond the Superhuman
When the line between life and technology blurs, humanity must adjust its understanding of the universe. From bestselling author Christopher L. Bennett comes Among the Wild Cybers, eight tales portraying a future of challenge and conflict, but also of hope born from the courage and idealism of those heroes willing to stand up for what is right.
- An intrepid naturalist risks her future to save a new form of life that few consider worth saving.
- An apprentice superhero must stand alone against an insane superintelligence to earn her name.
- A cybernetic slave fights to save her kind from a liberation not of their choosing.
- A seasoned diplomat and mother must out-negotiate fearsome alien traders to save a colony’s children.
- A homicide detective serves in a world where curing death has only made murder more baffling.
These and other heroes strive to make their corners of the universe better—no matter how much the odds are stacked against them. Includes the brand-new tale, Aspiring to Be Angels, prequel to the novel Only Superhuman.

Quick Explanation: Kickstarter doesn't really have an intuitive way to do add-ons, and the process can be confusing, so here's a quick explanation. To add one of the below onto your current pledge, just click on the "Manage Your Pledge" button at the top right of the page, click in the "Pledge Amount" box, and change the pledge amount to reflect the addition of the amount of the add-on you want.
Example: if your current pledge amount is $10, and you want to add a $5 add-on, you would click into the "Pledge Amount" box and change the pledge amount to $15. At the end of the Kickstarter, we'll send out a questionnaire to find out what add-ons you contributed for.
NOTES: all ebooks listed available in .epub, mobi, or .pdf, unless indicated. Also, we can autograph a book to whomever you want and you can order more than one copy of the same book when doing an add-on.
