Languages, Symbols, Security Screws and more fascinating news ...
Dear Magnic Light backers & followers ,
The last weekend I invested my time in updating the project. Now we have the video and some descriptions in 8 languages (English, Chinese, Hindu, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, Hindu) which hopefully help to understand our project better.
If you find mistakes please forgive us ;-) or consider to send a message. We got many questions concerning the different rewards and I added symbols which shall help to explain matches and differences between the rewards. I hope you like it. If there are still questions concerning stand light sets and smart sets please let us know.
We also added security to screws to all rewards. For caliper brakes this is easy because our existing Magnic Light security screws (M5/M6) work for caliper brakes while for Vbrake systems we will add a special screw nut.
I also added Gif animations of the brake rubber exchange and the turning of the light beam which are important properties of Magnic Microlights. Some backers are dicussing the seemingly unrealistic funding goal and we like the discussion which is interesting for us. After 11 days we have raised 85.000 US$ which is far away from our goal but our statistics show that the visitor/backer ratio is really good- while the number of vistors is too low. We are really happy that so many visitors became backers and this also shows that the campaign still has a good chance to be successful if we manage to win more visitors. In our first Magnic Light campaign we had less than 8.000 US$ after one week and only reached the goal because it was featured in some technical online magazines, so we still hope for a similar effect here. The most important difference between this campaign and a "normal gadget" campaign is its relevance. These lights help to avoid accidents, save lives and protect the enviroment by avoiding battery waste. Many backers of our previous campaigns told us that they even daylight cycling is safer with Magnic lights because they are better perceived by motorists.
In my last update I explained our high funding goal (which is necessary for us to produce on the relatively low price level).
It is standard crowdfunding practice to set the funding goal much lower than required to promote the campaign with high
success rates. This often works well but is one of the main reasons why campaigns are in trouble due to underfunding.
We do not want to risk getting into such a situation which is the worst case for backers, too.
We received some very promising news for German STVZO approval after discussion with the BAST has started last week. In case there is a chance to get STVZO approval also for the Magnic Microlights (currently our Magnic Ligh iC version is considered) we will try to get it but can't promise.
We also got tons of promotional offers and some cross-link offers. Cross-links on Kickstarter is cross promotion between different projects but I doubt this is a good idea because we don't want to spam our backers with news from other campaigns. If many believe we should do this please let us know and we think about it.
But I still believe it's not necessary because now the big news magazines wake up from winter holiday. This nice video on chip.de (Germany's leading Technology Portal) just came up today:
They have added a nice voice-over. If you think we should add this in our video, too (in English, French or Spanish) please let us know. Problem is that I don't like to hear my voice and don't like to see me in a video but for this project I would do.
