J. Scott Campbell is an American comic book artist who has done work for Marvel Comics, DC/Wildstorm, Dynamite Entertainment, and even some work for the video game industry. He is best known as the original artist and co-creator of "Gen13" and "Danger Girl" and gained a reputation in the American comics industry for his highly alluring illustrations of women. Campbell has gone on to do numerous covers for Dynamite's most popular comic titles including "Vampirella", "Green Hornet", "Army of Darkness" and, of course, "Sheena".
The Dynamite staff was already very familiar with the amazing quality of Campbell's work, but when he delivered his cover for "Sheena" #1, his rendition of our "Queen of the Jungle" really inspired our team. We looked at further ways of sharing Campbell's art with fans and translating it into 3-D form seemed like an obvious way to memorialize Campbell's work while offering fans a beautiful way to display his art on their shelves.
Shipping can be hard on a fragile product and the farther it has to go, the more danger the product is in. When fans pledge for Dynamite product through Kickstarter, they are always guaranteed to receive their product in good condition, or receive a replacement. We want every backer to be happy with their pledge and we will try our best to always make that so.
Some people believe that sites like Kickstarter are simply places for creators to raise the money needed in order to bring their project to fruition. While that is often true for most independent creators on Kickstarter, companies like Dynamite use crowdfunding for a different reason.
Our goal is to make sure our wide range of comics and collectibles are available to EVERY FAN, regardless of where they live and shop. Kickstarter grants us the ability to share our limited edition products directly with the fans, educating fans about new releases and offering them a means to purchase items that may not be found at their local retail store.
In addition to expanding our outreach to fans, crowdfunding also gives us the chance to receive direct feedback from our customers and the early support from these customers often allows us to upgrade and improve upon our finished product.
Whether you're an independent creator, or an established company, crowdfunding is a group effort and the fans win when they're able to make their purchasing choices directly with the creator.
