Welcome, intrepid new readers! And hail to our returning, seasoned adventurers! My name is Dwight MacPherson and I'm the creator and writer of The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe. As soon as issue one dropped on ComiXology and Amazon Kindle we were asked by readers if our digital comics would be available in printed form. So here we are, offering the third issue of our Kickstarter-exclusive printed edition,12-issue limited-series with a whole bunch of extras not available anywhere else! The first extra is this brilliant cover by my longtime comics friends,The Corpse Crew!  Ken Haeser, Buz Hasson, and Blair Smith have created a super spooky cover that will haunt your waking dreams! Okay... hopefully not really. But it is certainly worthy of the Master of the Macabre, don't you think?

This issue's back matter will be a special "Walking in Richmond" section where I'll discuss my adventure to Virginia's capital with my lovely wife, Rebecca. It was a very special time, and I'd like to share our experience and some personal insights with you. I think you will enjoy it!

 ABOUT THE BOOK

The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe is a reimagined version of the Harvey and Eagle Award-nominated graphic novel from Image Comics which features a revised script and eye-popping new art by the artist of the Bram Stoker Award-winning Kolchak the Night Stalker: The Forgotten Lore of Edgar Allan Poe, Luis Czerniawski, and sensuous colors by newcomer, Andrea Messi.

THE STORY

Edgar Allan Poe has lost everyone he ever loved and now he is losing his mind. Haunted by his wife's ghost and his many literary failures, the poet tumbles into a fantastical world created by his genius...and his madness. This world called Terra Somnium is a nightmare region that merges his macabre literary creations and mythological gods and monsters of old, all hell-bent on stopping him from escaping the land of dreams.

WHAT IS IT SIMILAR TO?

I've often described this story as "Alice in Wonderland meets The Lord of the Rings." And for those who are fans of classic literature like myself, I would describe it as "Homer's Odyssey meets Dante's Divine Comedy."

WHAT OUR READERS ARE SAYING

"An amazing adventure! Well researched. The interweaving of story and real-life is both unsettling and comforting. This is true literature and a wonderful example of the power of comics. Great for the classroom." - Tim Smyth, High School Social Studies Teacher, Author, and Presenter

“This is the best book I’ve read in a long time. It is so much fun! I love what Dwight and his team have done with Edgar Allan Poe.” - James Caudill, Middle School Social Studies Teacher

"Imagination or insanity? The Imaginary Voyages of Edgar Allan Poe brings to life a colorful homage to America's greatest poet. MacPherson's comic is one that any Poe fan will love. (Also the first comic I bought to share with my niece one day!)" - Jenn Arledge, Creator of Alex Priest, and Future Girl

Risks and challenges

The book is already completed, except for the special back matter, so the risks are extremely small. We've already completed two successful Kickstarter campaigns, and we do what we say we will do. 'Nuff said.
