Important!!! PAD ASSEMBLY

Hey backers! If you don't have yours yet, hang in there because I'm on a roll!!! The warehouse just sent a bunch out on Friday. HERE'S THE DEAL:

In order to speed things up I have not assembled the pads! This part takes a long time in to assemble 2,500 units so I thank you for assembling 2 of them for me :-) Please follow this to properly place the foam on the backing and the NanoSuction layer on top. BE CAREFUL to place properly... ALSO, I got samples of the gum rubber silicone mentioned in the comments and will be sending it to people for free who would like to try it in place of the NanoSuction. I'll be setting up a survey monkey page soon so be on the lookout! The stuff works GREAT on literally anything - walls, any case, textures, etc.. I'm excited about it, things are moving ahead.

If you haven't received yours yet, you will have to follow these steps, as the remaining rewards will arrive without the pads put together. Again, this was simply for time's sake and thank you for taking a couple of minutes to complete this step for me!!!

Danny Van, Matthew Haxmeier, and 2 more people like this update.

I actually haven't checked this kick starter in a couple of months and figured by now it would just end already...i am shocked how long this guy keeps delaying the inevitable...just be a businessman in general, for your own future and karma just admit that you lied and it didn't work out the way you planned...geez

Can anyone post his contact info here?

I have not received my reward and no response to a message sent in Dec... What's up?

    15. Harold Bottoms on January 22, 2014

@Rob, Between this project, the Sound Band and the Synergos Wallet, and the lack of support by Kickstarter, I'll never back another Kickstarter project, which is a shame because I have gotten some really nice products, however, I can't continue to lose money like this. I lost $174.00 on this one alone.
I did file a complaint with Kickstarter on this project, maybe something will come of it.

    16. Rob on January 22, 2014

Hey Harold, forgot the punctuation... I am agreeing with you in a startled manner :-)

    17. Rob on January 22, 2014

Really Harold... that's kind of incredible given that we have pledged and been charged $5 to $105..
and Dwight has 'decided' to keep our money and not complete the project... I guess the coward cannot take the pressure of actually running a start-up... just bolt and spend OUR MONEY on whatever the frakk he wants...?
I wonder does Kickstarter think that his actions 'are in the spirit of kickstarter' as they keep telling me to placate me from recovering my money via Amex...?
The longer he takes, the worse it looks for him and Kickstarter in general.
Dwight's giving the place a bad name...

    18. Harold Bottoms on January 21, 2014

@Troik - If you read the posts and replies on the Gekko Stand Facebook page, they tell us that they ran out of parts and started the Gekko 2.0 to raise money to fund buying parts to fulfill the Kickstarter backers. Dwight stopped the 2.0 project amid criticism from the current backers.
So, they are "buying" parts with money out of their pockets to fulfill backers, however, Dwight supposedly pulled out because he couldn't take the negative comments on the Kickstarter page, he didn't like people hating on him.

    19. Harold Bottoms on January 21, 2014

@Denis Surkov - I had the same question. There a lot of products in the video.

I think Dwight actually sold those outside of Kickstarter to raise money. What other explanation would there be. That would explain why they showed up for sale on the GoPro website.

    20. Denis Surkov on January 19, 2014

The thing I don't understand, is that Dwight actually showed that he received lots of Gekko parts. So, all those boxes full of Gekko, he just keeping them at home and won't send them?

    21. Kensy Wang on January 15, 2014

So, it is now 2014. Guess what? No gekko stand.

So I was searching around and found a facebook page. Dwight seems to be posting there just fine.

So, I can only conclude that he is simply ignoring his backers.

Ugh. Not a good way to run a business.

      I just want my stand.

I wonder if I post on his facebook page if he would respond there.

    25. Troik on January 6, 2014

Every now and then I think back to the Gekko Stand that I still would like to use and wonder if someone ran away with my money.
Not sure if this timeline is 100% accurate, but from what I could gather, the project was funded in the middle of march, then in August Dwight started Gekko Stand 2.0 with was canceled due to angry blowback from people here because they haven't received 1.0 yet. He then said that he had a new job and that this new company would now handle assembly and shipping....then in November the last update above came that he lost the will to assembly it himself and would send them out now he did the assembly by himself again...does that mean he lost the job?
And now no update in 2 month...has he moved on and we should do the same?

If anyone has received their Gekko Stand in the last few weeks, please leave a quick message here, so that we now that Dwight is still working on this and that there is still hope.

Got mine, but due to DIY for the nano suction pad, and a screw's head in the middle of the pad, I can't get the pad to be completely flat, I doubt it can hold ipad for long :( can only use my clamp and suction cup now, feel very disappoined with this project

So, no update in 6 weeks? I get that shipping to Europe might take some time, but now that people are starting to refund, I'm getting somewhat uneasy. An update on how far along we are would be nice. 95% shipped? Maybe 70% ...50%?

Still nothing? yup this and other projects I funded that never came through is why I won't fund any more crowd funding campaigns. I have funded 4 and only 1 came through and that has had it's own issues as well. Love the concept of crowd funding but it is to much of a gamble.

You are right. I just got mail from KS which pointed me to this link:

So the chargeback is the fastest way to get the money back. (Second is to mail Dwight himself - but he is not reliable for me anymore).

Thanks for the MonkeyTail hint. It looks good.

      @Dariusz Grabowski

Kickstarter won't refund you : you have to call you credit card company. I called mine (Visa) and they said that there is not trouble if I want a refund, so that's probably what I will do If Dwight doesn't provide an HONEST update soon, and I will buy an Octa MonkeyTail instead. This product seams to be working good! At least, the kickstarter of this project went well, the product have been shipped a long time ago and complaints seems to be almost inexistant...

    46. Frank Wuerbach on November 25, 2013

After all this "we are really shipping, yes we really, really are. Really." I still have to get my Gekko Stand. This is really embarrassing in my opinion. And taking a job in the middle of the campaign did not have seemed to help either. Finish you commitments and then commit to something else. And I hate that there has been no update in two weeks again. This is no way to run a Kickstarter campaign at all.
