About this project
Thanks to 776 backers on our first project, the Gekko Stand is a reality! Now it is time to take it to the next level, so we have developed 4 new attachments: rugged phone and tablet mounts, a handlebar clamp and a camera mount. Together with the 3 original attachments, as well as our detachable ball and socket joints, you will be able to go hands-free with any device in any situation!
In order to launch the new attachments at an affordable price, we have to hit minimum order quantities through our Oregon based manufacturer. We also would like to have custom assembly jigs fabricated so we can assemble all of our attachments uniformly and perfectly. Here's where you come in: if we hit $22,500 in pledges, we'll be able to place a cost effective order with our manufacturer and purchase our assembly jigs. In exchange for your pledge, we will send your Gekko Stand no later than November. Please pledge and share so we can make this happen together! Thank you!!!
The Gekko Stand now works with every popular mobile device on the market, just about everywhere you can think. So far, we've gone hands-free in the following places: On many airplanes, In the car, at the office, in the kitchen, on strollers, in the bathroom, on stage with microphone stands, while riding bikes, on motorcycles, riding shifter carts, off-road dune buggies, while on FaceTime/Hangout/Skype, on speedboats and more. We can't wait to see where you use yours!
Risks and challenges
We already have our upstream and downstream operations streamlined, so the risks are very minimal. Due to the fact that we are already in production with the original Gekko Stand and attachments and need to Kickstart MOQs for 4 additional attachments, the only risk is that our manufacturer (who we already work with) would take longer than expected. There is no reason to believe that they will be late on orders, though, because they have the capacity to fulfill 10,000 units per week at the moment.
As far as the assembly jigs go, the only risk is that the fabricator doesn't complete the project in time. The fabricator has agreed that he will begin work the day the campaign hits its goal, so he will hopefully be done even before the campaign is complete. But, if he doesn't complete it by then, we can still assemble the old fashion way until we get the jigs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
