So many stories after 25+ years overseas... Too many folks hear my music and wonder why I don't have a new album. Guess it's time. Read more

About this project
Since returning from over 25 years in Europe, I'm rediscovering life back here in the land of folk, country and Americana music and it has renewed my passion for my songwriting with new songs almost every month. Being part of a songwriter's group spreading from Denver to Boulder that orbits around the Swallow Hill Music Association is keeping me honest as well, as we share our newest music with one another.
I'm working toward a 10-song album of new music with some of my best loved vintage tunes thrown in for good measure. The style of the album is really as close as I can get to a great night of live acoustic music shared with a few really talented musicians in a cozy corner of your favorite coffee house, bistro or pub. I'm hoping you'll feel a bit of the magic from all those Irish sessions I've been a part of through the years overseas as you listen.
I have at least 3 albums worth of music ready to record, but I've got to start somewhere. The music for "At Water's Edge" will be taken from one of my favorite set lists minus a few covers that I've been playing live at gigs lately. My hope is that by having a CD that the basic costs are paid for before it's released, I'll be able to be give them away when it's appropriate, or sell them at concerts to raise money for good causes. Heck, they might even generate some interest and funding for the next two CD's.
Of course, none of this will happen if at least all $3000 doesn't come in to help cover studio costs, paying the musicians and graphic artist for the album and t-shirt design, plus the CD manufacturing. (Kickstarter is an "All or Nothing" deal, meaning no money changes hands unless the minimum is reached.)
That's where you all come in. I hope you'll give, even if it's just a little and share the project with a couple of others. I'll be posting little snippets here from time to time and the local studio I'm using has a live camera feed if you want to sit in on the sessions.
Reward-wise, there are the regular items like downloads of the songs, t-shirts and posters. But my favorite will be the live online album launch we're planning on my music Facebook page via StageIt! There'll be song dedications, some special shout-outs to over-achieving family and friends, plus a chance for us all to be together for the event, wherever you live.
Most of all, I'm doing this because I want to share my life, my stories and my music. Singing on my living room couch is fine, but I'm looking forward to having you all here with me to celebrate this next musical chapter with you.
Spread the word! Please help me get past the financial bit and on to the creative part as soon as possible and no later than May 31st! Let the music begin!
Absolutely! I'd rather have it cost me a bit more to ship your rewards than not have you be part of the project! We'll sort something out! http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/backing%20a%20project#CanPeopFromOutsTheUsPledToProj
