Hello friends and thank you for making it to our campaign to bring our third album to life!
The big difference between this project and our previous releases happened through an inspired collaboration between us, producer Michael Chorney and a hand picked cast of musicians from the local scene. All of these combined minds and forces breathed new life into the songs. We could not be happier with how the album turned out.
Home base for the session was in Lincoln, VT in Michael's home studio ; a rustic farm house nestled safely in the woods. It's a place that exudes freedom fueled by nature and a healthy dose of isolation from the daily grind. This element of emersion comforted and encouraged our best work throughout every phase of the process and that energy really carried the pace of the work flow.
Each song you'll hear centers around a live performance from the duo as we wanted to capture and embrace all of the human elements within the music. That's another area that really resonated between us and Michael. He's a guy that tastefully supports the imperfections in a way that is just pleasantly real.
With all this great chemistry flowing around the house, after the first day it was time to begin the over-dub phase and with the right musicians and vision, anything was possible. So we began to make a list of local players who we admired and heard in the songs. Rob Morse joined us on upright and electric basses, Brett Lanier lent his expertise on pedal steel and dobro, Hillary McCabe brought us soaring violin to pull on the heart strings and Michael joined in on a slew of instruments, filling all of the space that needed attention.
Once we had all of our sounds down, it was time for the mixing process to begin which is where Michael shined the most in the work. Coming from a long lasting background of arranging and songwriting in the folk realm (among many other genres) made him the perfect mind to get the songs to speak to their true potential. He created a landscape with all of the instruments blending close and intimate tones with ambient and textural pulls; a perfect balance of a living and breathing mix and vital part of shaping the sound on the record. It's the kind of presentation that reveals new secrets in each tune the more you listen.
As we mentioned before, the driving force behind the making of A Riddle For You was the inspiration felt through a trusted, respected and embraced collaboration. It really opened the door to a new direction in our song presentation. We've put in our time as a duo for three years now and the next phase in our musical path is to get the tunes out with the right band. It's a beautiful feeling to not only share our songs with other players but for them to be able to uplift the sound with their own voices. There's just infinite potential in the art of collaboration and we're only just beginning to explore this phase.
And the family only continues to grow with all of you who are watching our video and reading this message. We are all collaborating in the making of art right now! By donating to preorder the new album you are allowing us to execute the strongest plan we have to bring this project to life.
Friends... Let's do this. TOGETHER! Thank you for allowing us to do what we love.

Risks and challenges
Every independent band is up against the financial wall that the modern day music business has built. With all of the streaming services influencing the way people consume music, album sales are at an all time low. This is especially challenging for a newly discovered act building from the ground up. The current business model is to tour as much as possible, relying on your live performance to build up a following. This takes lots of time, patience and miles on the road and there’s never a guarantee that the sound will catch from touring alone. The best thing we can do for the album moving forward is put together the strongest plan we have to get the music out. By donating to our campaign you are allowing us to pay for Mastering, manufacturing, mixing and marketing, all huge components of the motion to get this record out to as many people as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
