Weighing Anchor.

Posted by Gifted Vision (Creator)

Well, looking at the wee hours left for the campaign, and the large gap between close to $18k and $45 - we're going to hoist the white flag and call er quits on Tidal Wave.

This saddens me.  I had very high hopes for this campaign and admittedly was fantasizing about how well it was going to do.  :*(

I want to thank everyone here that chipped in (and some of you that really put in a pound of flesh) in showing your support!  You guys rock.  :)

Even though we're closing up shop on this campaign, as hinted at/promised recently, we will be looking at doing this again - with a very different campaign in the future.  We're going to leave it alone over the holidays, and we'll look at it again after the holidays have had their ways with everyone, but we will be back!

I hope we can look to your support on that day.

Our sincerest thanks, Jey & Ev.

      Thanks Doug, much appreciated! :)

Everyone keep an eye out for news to start circulating as early as February.

Sorry slow on the update for this, but I'm sad that this had to be canceled. But I'll keep an eye out for the next one as I'll support that!

We've approached a couple different KS's, but they don't seem to be interested in cross promotions, even when we leave the offer open ended. Eventually we might find one that is willing.

The dice rings were an interesting campaign. :)

Man, this is too bad. (But not unexpected; I've kept my eye on the total.)

I wonder if it would be possible to do some cross-promotion with other RPG Kickstarter projects?

For instance, I also contributed to the Dice Rings Kickstarter, and they're hitting absurd numbers. I would be willing to bet that a large number of the people that are contributors to Dice Rings don't know about DCM, but would be interested in contributing if they did. (Speaking for myself, while I'm looking forward to the Dice Rings quite a bit, I'd love to see more DCM at least as much.)

We now have limited distribution through Paizo, that may help in getting us known.

We did show off our collage of our previous works - however, I believe I'm going to incorporate it more in to our story for next time.

I think Michael makes some good points. Proof that you've done good work in the past goes a long way toward building confidence.

Sorry to see this underperform again. Good luck with the next foray in the new year !!

You have an uphill battle since you're relatively unknown, self-distribute and have a limited line of miniatures available. I like what I've seen so far and I expect there are a lot of people out there who would appreciate pre-painted miniatures for their games. Maybe the nautical theme is a little to specific and isn't drawing the broad base you need.

Whatever minis you try to launch next time, you should also showcase the minis you've already produced so people can see what you are capable of. With the glut of miniature Kickstarters, being able to see actual product goes a long way to inspire confidence in the end product. Maybe even incorporate them into the KS campaign as early stretch goals to get pledges moving. You hit $10K and every pledge at "X" level gets a mastiff and a coffin. Hit $15K and get one each of the vines / tentacles. Hit $20K and you add the set of people. Also have additional sets of those available as add-on sale.

Best of luck !! See you in the new year !!

Both of these might be true.

I personally find it hard to believe that 3 short forms (NAT, PPM, ALT) could throw so many people off - however, I won't discount it.

    9. Jonas Schiött

It's possible the nautical theme isn't as popular as some others.

Also, I think all the abbreviations and different combinations still make the pledge levels a bit complicated to understand.

      Thanks T.

There's a pretty good chance we're just not striking a chord with the majority of buyers. We're going to continue to try and get more exposure to our product line, and we're open to suggestions.

I wish you better luck next time. I know I'll return again... again... :)

Between now and then, I recommend looking into some ways to spread the word even before you start your next Kickstarter campaign. Perhaps there are some places you've overlooked. Just guessing by the numbers I'm seeing here -- you need to shoot for about 450 backers to reach your goal safely, which is a bit more than twice as many as have pledged in this campaign.

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

Most of the minis campaigns on here seem to do pretty well -- and your minis are a lot better than some of the ones that have done well -- so I don't think it's your product that is the issue. You're doing some fine stuff that gamers should find useful. I enjoy the minis I've purchased from you thus far.

Thanks guys! We will do our best to spread the word on the next one. :)

Yeah, I just recently upped my pledge, trying to do my part to help you guys out.

I hope you do one of those e-mail things again where you let everyone who pledged on this campaign know when you start your next one. I know I'll be back to pledge again.

Sorry I was hoping for this thing to sky rocket at the end Happy Holidays!
