UPDATE: $5K threshold achieved! Let's keep going and shoot for $10K! Every dollar contributed means more time I can work full-time to make this the best film it can be!
Shortly after Katrina, a Presbyterian pastor from New Jersey moved his family to New Orleans to help rebuild. He fell in love with the city and eventually decided to become the first person in history to eat a meal at every restaurant in town (over 700 of them!). Along the way, his tiny church helped rebuild over 500 homes. This is his story -- it's like Man vs. Food meets Extreme Home Makeover!
Paste Magazine and Gasoline Films are proud to present The Man Who Ate New Orleans. We've filmed the first hour of the movie, but it's taken a lot longer than we thought, and costs have run way over. That's where you come in. Please watch our video above and if you are inspired, please give. Your donation will help us cover costs through the rest of production. We've set the total target amount relatively low, but please know that the more money we raise, the more we will be able to pay to help make the film better and better. And all the net proceeds from our film will go to "Help Rebuild the Next 500."
We have some truly great partners, including winners of prizes like Oscar, Emmy, James Beard (several), Heisman, and Miss America. We're filming on the RED One camera with a pro crew. This film will look and sound amazing, have incredible music (including the great Rebirth Brass Band, who you hear in the clip above), and inspire people all over to continue to help rebuild this great city. Can you help us bring it to life?
P.S. "The Last Supper" is our big event on September 1 in New Orleans, where Ray will eat at his final restaurant and complete his quest. The great Chef John Besh will be cooking, the great Rebirth Brass Band will be playing, and Ray and Bernice will be sitting at a head table with nine of NOLA's ten James Beard award winning chefs from the last five years. Won't you join us? Email for details.
