Ninja Chowdown is an PC/Android/IOS game that follows the story of Donatsu and the Dough-jo Donuttery as they climb to the top of the food chain . . . chain. The top of the chain of food chains that is! The world is ran by cuisine champions. They are the world's most popular food chains by day and the world's most formidable warriors by night. A strong flavor breeds an equally strong fighting spirit.
As Donatsu and the Dough-jo, you will face equally fearsome opponents such as the Traveling Rollnin, the Pizza Pie-rates, and the Barbarcurians (Barbarian Barbecue WIP lol).
The core game play is that of a fast-paced side-scrolling runner. We have adopted the "easy to pick-up, hard to master" mentality for this game. We would like the game controls, obstacles, and goals to be simple and straightforward, but at the same time provide enough challenge and variety to keep it interesting.
We have chosen to develop the game for mobile devices. We feel like mobile is a perfect medium for our project for two primary reasons: accessibility and simplicity. We want all of our friends to be able to conveniently enjoy the game without taking too much time off of their busy days. We personally aren't huge mobile gamers, but we can see the advantage of having a good mobile game in your pocket. With these factors in mind, making Ninja Chowdown for mobile was an easy choice.
First Goal Achieved!
With the initial funding that we have received, we will create these first three levels: The Travelling Rollnin, The Pizza Pie-Rates, and the Barbarcurians (Barbarian Barbecue).
With further funding, we would love to add more levels and content to really develop the world of Ninja Chowdown. With each stretch goal that we reach, also expect us to improve the overall quality of the game as we will be able to spend more time on this project in general.
The fourth level that we would love to make will be the Noodle Knights. The theme of their level will be that of chivalrous heavily armored knights whose specialty is Canned Noodle Soup (think Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup). Just like the food they produce, they'll be tough to open up without the right tools!
As we continue to work on the game, we will keep the community updated on the completion of each arc! Stay tuned in!
This is a passion project that we have been doing on the side for the last couple of months. Unfortunately, we both are limited on our free time for this project due to having to chase money for food and bills. We estimate that each arc will take approximately a month for us to complete. The main reason we would like to Kickstart this project would be to give ourselves extra motivation and resources to work further on this project.
The raised money will primarily go towards necessary tools/items that we don't have yet such as an IOS developer account ($100/year), assets (music/sound, plug-ins, etc.), and developing software/hardware (tablet, pro-versions, etc.). The current version has been designed for Android, so we will need some extra time and resources for an IOS version.
We are Dummy Dojo. Two supple young men trying to make the world a weirder place. We also develop stupid games that we hope you can find some kind of enjoyment out of.
Hey there! I’m Mark Oliver Ilog, a 24-year old programmer and gamer. I’ve been gaming for the majority of my life. I used to be a hardcore gamer when I was in my teens, spending a lot of time dissecting, theorycrafting, and no-lifing plenty of RPGs (D2 and PoE were some favorites). Unfortunately, adult life has got me more focused on money than fun.
My dream right now is to transition fully into developing games to support myself monetarily. I believe that this will be possible through a lot of hard work, consistency, and coffee. So far, developing games has been a perfect way for me to express my creativity through my programming skills. I feel like collectively, Lenny and I have plenty more interesting and unique concepts that we would love to translate into accessible video games for all of you to enjoy.
Thank you for your time!
Hi! I’m Lenny Lam, and I am an artist. I have been drawing ever since I was a kid doodling in class. I love making my own worlds and characters, and I have dreamed of being able to just create my imaginations as my career. I’ve always wanted to make my own video games as an artist, and my very first idea of an original character and game I thought of when I was young was about a chubby ninja that got more powerful from eating.
Throughout all my years of growing as a designer and an artist, I never thought I would be able to turn my first game into a reality until I met someone on the programming side with the same aspirations as me. However, Ninja Chowdown is more than just a title in a portfolio to me. As weird as the premise is, Ninja Chowdown encompasses my passion for art and gaming, and my childhood love of food and ninjas. Being able to have the creative control for a months-long personal project like this and get good feedback from it is all I could ever ask for in my creative career.
Thank you for taking a peek at what goes on in our minds, and we hope you like Ninja Chowdown as much as we have enjoyed creating it.

Risks and challenges
We are relatively new to the game development scene. Learning the ins and outs of production has been a daunting task for us, but we feel like we have a decent grasp on it now. We have definitely grown as developers over the last couple of months, but we know we still have a lot to learn. We are looking forward to overcoming this challenge to produce the games that we dream to make.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
