This year I, along with some friends (and a few of my film students!) are taking on the challenge of the 48 Hour Film Project! Read more
This project was successfully funded on July 25, 2012.
About this project
The 48 Hour Film Project is an international film competition, which brings filmmakers together to compete in making a film (from start to finish) in just 48 hours. This year the competition returns to Madison!
Our team is made up of a mixture of seasoned pros of the 48 Hour Film Project and students from our school, Drywater Productions School of Film. This school is geared toward young filmmakers interested in learning the fundamentals of filmmaking. We just finished our class final project, which is a 10 minute war movie, "The Extraction." Now we're excited to see what we can turn out in only 48 hours!
The way the 48 Hour Film Project works is that each team will randomly draw a genre, then all teams will be provided with the required elements (each element will be the same for all teams). The elements are: A line of dialogue, a character, and a prop. We get this information Friday night and only have until Sunday evening to deliver our complete film. With only 48 hours, it's always a challenge and never a guarantee to what we will create. One thing is for sure- we always have a blast!
All films will be screened in Madison at the Sundance Cinemas. In addition to this screening, several of our past 48 Hour Films have even been official selections at the Beloit International Film Festival, among other festivals.
We're hoping to raise at least $160 which will cover the entry fee (and the kickstarter fees). Anything above and beyond will go toward the following
- Food, snacks, pop, coffee, water, etc. for the cast and crew.
- Props, costumes, makeup, etc (if needed).
- Gas money for the vehicles driving to and from Madison, and misc. trips for the production.
All of the pledge amounts (except the $1 pledge) will get you in the credits of our film, but even $1 will help us reach our goal! Speaking of goals, Kickstarter is a great site for raising funding for projects, but IF WE DON'T RAISE OUR GOAL AMOUNT, WE WON'T RECEIVE ANY FUNDS (and of course all funds you donate will come back to you). So we need all the help we can get in supporting this project!
Thank you in advance for all of the support you have given to us over the years, and the support you continue to give us!!
