The Dryad Gaming Co. Dice Tower & Tray is an extremely durable, obsessively made, and elegantly simple accessory for tabletop and role-playing games.
My name is Ty. I'm a professional woodworker, specializing is small products, made from domestic and exotic hardwoods. I also love playing games. That's why I've created Dryad Gaming Co.
If you're a fan of Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, or other role-playing games, you're familiar with dice towers, and how they can improve your gaming experience. They keep your rolls random, on the table, and quick. We all know that dice towers & trays are great, but there are a few things that set the Dryad towers & trays apart:
1. Real, Traditional Woodworking Joinery: Constructed using actual woodworking joints, these towers and trays can hold up to bumps and tumbles. The wood glue I use is among the toughest available. These also do not use any magnets or "non-traditional" fasteners that can be defeated by a rogue elbow.
2. Built for travel: At around 6 and half inches tall, these are smaller than most dice towers on the market. These take up very little space, and can easily be tucked away in a bag or purse. The Dryad Tower also isn't so big that you can't see your friends or battlemap.
3. Durable and Perfect for Metal Dice: In addition to the tough construction of the Dryad Tower & Tray, it is also finished with an incredibly durable oil-urethane blend. The finish has resins that penetrate the wood fibers and harden. The finish looks and feels great. Oh, and it's totally safe to roll metal dice in these!
Every Tower & Tray is Available in 14 Different Hardwoods
The Naiad Series includes White Oak, Maple, Walnut, Ambrosia Maple, and Cherry. Nothing has been dyed or stained; the wood is naturally this beautiful.
White Oak is a classic American Hardwood. You can find this golden brown hardwood everywhere from traditional shaker furniture to the USS Constitution. The tray features Walnut splines.
Maple is a dense, smooth, and beautiful North American hardwood. Maple is currently a very popular material to use in furniture and other home goods due to its modern, clean look. The tray features Walnut splines.
Walnut is the most popular dark American hardwood. It is known and sought after for its deep browns with some dark gray streaks. The tray features Maple splines.
Cherry is another classic American hardwood with deep roots in US history. It is distinct for its smooth red brown color, and even smoother surface. George Washington would approve. The tray features Walnut splines.
Ambrosia Maple is Maple that has been previously been infested with beetles, who bore out tunnels, which then are filled with a fungus that discolor the wood. Don't worry, there's nothing nasty or dangerous in the wood, now! The Tray features Walnut splines.
The Auloniad Series includes Bloodwood, Purpleheart, Zebrawood, Padauk, & Tigerwood. Nothing has been dyed or stained; the wood is naturally this beautiful.
Bloodwood is a beautiful South American hardwood. It is often found in small specialty items such has knife handles and traditional carvings. It is appropriately named with its vivid red color, but it also has some subtle brown and yellow hues. The tray features Walnut splines.
Purpleheart is found from Mexico to parts of Brazil. Also appropriately named, this hardwood is amazingly purple. Like, really really purple. Some brownish hints, but mainly purple. The tray features Maple splines.
Zebrawood is a West African wood, but you could spot it a hundred miles away. Known for its crazy striping and impressive hardness, Zebrawood is often used in specialty tool handles, skis, and other unique applications. The tray features Maple splines.
Padauk is another brilliantly red wood, but this time from Central and West Africa. Padauk varies from a bright orange to a dark brownish red, but it is always beautiful. The tray features Maple splines.
Tigerwood, sometimes called Goncalo Alves, is a Central American wood that is known for its irregular "tiger stripes." It's often used in high-end knife handles, archery bows, and even pool cues. It is a truly unique wood. The tray features Maple splines.
The Oread Series includes Bocote, Leopardwood, Wenge, & Canarywood. Nothing has been dyed or stained; the wood is naturally this beautiful.
Bocote is an impressively heavy and beautiful wood from Mexico and Central America. It is strikingly beautiful and often cut into veneers for fine furniture. It is one of my personal favorites, despite smelling like dill pickles when cut. The tray features Maple splines.
Leopardwood is perhaps the most unique wood Dryad is offering. The Central American wood is known for its "leopard spots," or distinct flecking in the reddish brown body. The tray features Maple splines.
Wenge is an incredibly cool Central African wood. It is known for its varying and unpredictable brown and black stripes. It's also super difficult to work with, but the end result is absolutely worth it! The tray features maple splines.
Canarywood is a South American wood that features a wide variety of colors. Mainly orange and yellow, Canarywood also commonly has streaks of red, purple, and brown. The tray features Walnut splines.

About Me, and Why I'm on Kickstarter
My name is Ty, I live in Fayetteville, AR with my wife, Caroline, and I make things. I've spent the last several years as a professional woodworker, specializing in small, hardwood products. I love woodworking. It's what I'm meant to do. I also love gaming. Dryad is how I'm combining these two passions.
The reason I'm taking this project to Kickstarter is so I can make my process more efficient. I'm fully capable of making dice towers & trays right now, but I can't do it as quickly as I would like. I also still work in my parents' garage, which impedes my productivity. If I'm able to afford a few more machines, and a new space, then I know I can make these products quickly and safely.
Thank you for viewing and supporting my Kickstarter project. I'm so excited.
Risks and challenges
This is my first Kickstarter project, but I do consider it to be low risk. I am already making these towers & trays, and I have a background in product-based woodworking. Like I said in the video, I have everything I *need* to make these products. The purpose of this Kickstarter is to allow me to increase my efficiency. Almost all of the funds will go toward new machines, shop space, and materials.
Every product is made by myself, so I can guarantee the quality of the craftsmanship. Every product is also being made right here in Northwest Arkansas. I have already secured quotes on materials; purchasing the lumber is not an issue.
If this Kickstarter really blows up, there's certainly a chance I could miss my shipping dates, but this project has my full-time attention. I will do everything I can to meet those shipping dates, regardless of the amount of folks to support this project!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
