Sorcerer City, from designer Scott Caputo (Voluspa & Whistle Stop) mixes tile laying and deck building into a strategic game that is kept moving by a casual timed element. Imagine if Carcassonne, Dominion, and Galaxy Trucker were combined into a magical strategy game of sorcerer architects competing to see who could gain the most prestige! Walk with us down the streets of Sorcerer City!
Building your city
Shuffle your starting deck of 12 tiles. Place them face down and prepare to start the round. Once the round starts you will place one tile at a time adjacent to a previously placed tile.
Tiles can be arranged in any direction and they DO NOT have to match other colors when placed. Obviously, you will want to strategically place a tile to score the most points in whatever strategy you are attempting to construct.
There are 3 different scoring goal types.
Raw Magic Conversion Cards: Each player secretly decides how to use their raw magic, as all raw magic is converted into one of the three other resources. Players reveal simultaneously.
Influence Rewards: The player with the most influence wins the reward for that year and the Prestige associated with it. The second place player chooses either the Prestige or the Influence Reward. Third place is rewarded the option that the second player did not choose. All remaining players receive 5 gold to spend at the market or an additional buy action.
Market Phase: In order of influence, players will buy tiles from the Market. Only 2 tiles may be purchased unless they have unlocked more buy actions from their player board, influence rewards, or tiles in their cities.
Monster Phase: Each player receives a Monster from the current year. Players should review as a group the monster ability that everyone is receiving.
Shuffle and reset: Players collect their Prestige coins from their supply for the amount they accumulated during the round. The player with the least amount of Prestige gains the free tile that matches the current year. Now players take all tiles, including newly acquired monsters and market tiles and shuffle them face down and prepare their deck for the next round.
End Game: After the 5th year, count up all Prestige Tokens and determine the winner!
We are listening to your feedback!
Shipping is expensive and is a burden that we all have to share. We have subsidized the shipping costs so that you have very affordable shipping. We will be fulfilling the Kickstarter copies from strategic locations around the world. If you live in an expensive part of the world to ship things, it is a big advantage to secure this subsidized shipping through the campaign.
Some backers will receive their games before others, that is just a fact of fulfillment. We will balance this the very best we can and we will do our very best to keep everyone up to date on where each region of the world is during shipping. There are things we cannot control, like sea freighters getting delayed or customs taking much longer than what is normal, these situations pop up, we will do our best. The region of the world we have the most control over is the USA, we promise that no retail sales or Amazon sales will occur until backers have been shipped. We will also do our very best to do the same for every other area of the world, but those areas are much harder to time fulfillment.
When it comes to shipping and fulfillment, please be patient. There are a lot of moving parts to pull off shipping thousands of games to almost every country on this planet. We learned a lot in our previous campaigns, we have vetted great fulfillment partners, but ultimately once the games are put on the boats, we are at the mercy of a lot of other people. No matter what, we will make sure you get the game you pledge for!
Risks and challenges
If you are reading this, you are seriously considering supporting us. We want you to know that we take this very seriously. We promise to work as hard as we possibly can to deliver to you the best game experience we possibly can. We think if you look back over our previous campaigns, you will see that is our track record, but we aren't sitting on our laurels and we aren't getting complacent. We want to keep pushing, to keep getting better, and to continue to give you the most we can.
