WE HIT OUR FILM'S TARGET BUDGET!
In less than 7 days, THE LOVE EFFECT campaign has reached over 1 million people around the world and has raised its entire $30,000 film budget. THE LOVE EFFECT TEAM realized how this film truly did turn into a movement. As filmmakers, we knew we wanted to create a film that addressed themes of depression, suicide and LOVE, but what we didn't realize is that this is only a fraction of the possibility to nurture our cause.
We are setting a STRETCH GOAL of over 30k in order to launch THELOVEEFFECT.org with our film's premiere.
This website will not only share pertinent information to the film, but to our campaign and movement for awareness and change. We are developing some INCREDIBLE things, resources, apparel and mediums for us all to come together and share in raising awareness and making a difference. We are also evolving unique community charity aspects for this campaign as well. To say the least, this is just the beginning for us and we cannot wait to share with you what we have in store.

THE LOVE EFFECT is the personal story of two men, TOM and ROBBIE who are both dealing with loss in very radical ways. Tom has come to this remote California coastal retreat to cope with the pain of his lost love, while Robbie has come to this very spot to take his own life. Two men on different yet parallel paths are shown a way through together, just by sharing simple experiences like fishing, surfing and camping. A story of life and loss, THE LOVE EFFECT film reminds the audience of life's greatest gift and how it translates in so many different ways.

SUICIDE AWARENESS - A CALL TO ACTION
• Over 1,000,000 people die by suicide every year.
• There is one death by suicide in the world every 40 seconds.
• Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide.
• Suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15 - 24 year olds.
Why aren't we discussing this? As filmmakers, we have an opportunity to be fearless, vulnerable and open by sharing a story that's both universal, dramatic and ever so poignant.
A film dealing with suicide and pain is never easy. Especially when it hits so close to home for so many of us. With the support of many celebrities, organization groups and people around the world, we have decided to take this head on - connecting our own struggles and pain with suicide, loss and depression to make a film that poetically expresses the importance of LOVE and its EFFECT. Short films are a difficult thing to create, however with suicide being such a relevant topic, we feel this story is a voice that needs to be heard.

Drue Metz - @drueGRIT
Drue has been writing and directing his entire life. He has trained at some of the best films school in the world (CSULB, UCLA, USC) and has written, directed, producer or contributed to over 60 films to date. He has directed branded content for APPLE INC, PERSOL SUNGLASSES and has received numerous awards for his short films and screenplays. Most recently, Drue directed part of JAMES FRANCO'S feature film adaptation of DON QUIXOTE and is in post production on a feature documentary that has been 6 years in the making. He's currently directing commercials and music videos with RunawayVision and is in development on two feature films.
"Metaphoric, reflective, emotional and deeply important -- I came on board after reading Tyler and Ari's original story and script. I was in love with it, but I couldn't take it on at the time because I was already deeply immersed in two music videos, a commercial and a feature film development. However Tyler reminded me: "If you truly are passionate about this... and this cause, you'll find a way." I knew in my heart he was right and I said yes immediately after. I re-wrote the script and further developed it with these guys, channeling my own struggle with loss and have since created a beautiful collaboration and friendship with Ari and Tyler. THE LOVE EFFECT has been one of the most meaningful and creative experiences of my life."

Tyler Atkins - @tylerockit - The role of TOM
Australian actor, surfer, raw food chef and yoga teacher, embraces with spirit and joy his youth and beach culture, with an earthy, fit and healthy attitude to life and living, being at one with the earth, nature, sport, lifestyle.
In late 2013 Tyler scored his first acting role on the award winning new drama Puberty Blues, which has been one of Channel 10’s best TV dramas. This role embraced his surfing lifestyle and was targeted to a youth audience. Since then Tyler has recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting dream and in just a few months Tyler has already booked roles in US TELEVISION & FILM. Tyler also signed with powerhouse agent Justin Deanda at ICM PARTNERS.
Tyler was diagnosed with a kidney disease in late 2010, where he spent a year and a half in hospital over five operations, during which he turned his life around to healthy organic eating, and a fresh, positive and strong outlook. Learning to overcome fear, being comfortable in solitary times, soul searching, becoming more conscious, dropping alcohol and gaining insight and clarity, Tyler's new journey in the second part of his life has blossomed. He is also an ambassador for Kidney Health Australia and AIME (Australian indigenous mentoring experience).
Ari Blinder - @ari_blinder - The role of ROBBIE
Ari started his acting career in Atlanta, GA after graduating from Emory University with a B.A. in Film & Theatre Studies. He then came to Los Angeles and studied Meisner Technique at The Ruskin School of Acting and later at Margie Haber Studio where he now teaches. Ari has had the pleasure of working on some of the most exciting shows on TV: “Homeland” (Showtime), “The Mentalist” (CBS), “Banshee” (Cinemax), and many others. Additionally, Ari writes and produces his own work and his film "The Gerstein Report" played at the Cannes Film Festival. In his free time Ari enjoys rock climbing and is actively involved with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

STYLE & TONE
Symbolic, minimalist, quiet and reserved, this a film that communicates tone, style and perspective all from the smallest of looks, atmospheric sounds and character moments. We've been met with overwhelming praise for the screenplay and both the written and 'directorial' style in which the film has been designed. THE LOVE EFFECT is a film that sensitively challenges the fight against suicide and depression by creating a cinematic story that demonstrates the powerful effect of LOVE. The film seeks to remind audiences what it means and how the simplest of life experiences can nurture the most meaningful life changes.

QUICK BREAKDOWN OF FILM BUDGET
$30,000 is really the jumping point. It's a lot of money, but not much in the world of professional filmmaking. Having made films on a zero budget, 30k+ and later 350k -- fused with my lifetime of experience of both independent and professional filmmaking, I know the value of the dollar, especially in film production.
This is the budget we need to create this film and below are just some of the necessities that we'll need to spend money on in order to be successful:
• Northern California and Southern California Locations & Permitting
• Animal/wrangler and HUMANE SOCIETY supervision
• Vintage 60's Cargo Van
• Surf equipment and camera tools
• Motion Picture Camera and Accessories
• Film Lighting equipment and generator
• Drone Owner/Operator and Permitting
• Professional crew
• Travel and lodging for The Love Effect Team
• Post-Produciton - Music, Sound, Color
• Marketing, Film Festival Submission and charity/public speaking events
We've scouted some of the most beautiful and remote locations all along the California coast in order to support the films thematically epic symbolism of isolation, solitude and minutia. This is a film that needs the means to make it's cinematic presentation absolutely stellar. To be able to legally film in BIG SUR, POINT REYES and other spots along the coast, we'll need financial support to properly secure permitting and access in accordance to state law. This alone is a substantial amount of our budget.
To be able to shoot in these remote locations we need to be able transport crew, equipment, animals (Biskits the dog!) as well as other key personnel. While it sounds simple, this type of production is going to need coordinated vehicle transportation and preparation to manage. When you don't shoot gorilla, things cost big money especially in California and in State Parks!
SPREADING THE LOVE EFFECT
This budget will take us to where we need to shoot, take the film across the world to where it needs to be seen, and make it possible for us to do the best job. However THE LOVE EFFECT is also a movement and a campaign to fight suicide, depression and loss with LOVE. This is a true social movement with a cinematic effort and we want all the tools, crew and locations to do it to make this incredibly powerful and uplifting story.
