Drowsy Aurora is officially your unofficial home for the most adorable hand-sewn felt plushies in all the land. Sewn with a touch of magic and a dash of joy in every stitch, these beautiful little plush figurines slumber as they wait to light up your life!
The things you're really here for.
I've sorted through a lot of ideas to bring you what I think is an amazing list of rewards. Did you know that you can get images printed on just about anything now?
All of those who donate to my campaign will receive my sincerest thanks (really, thank you.), and their name on a special page on my website as my way of recognizing you.
If you're interested in adding on any of the rewards to the reward you've chosen, you can! Just add the totals of the rewards you want and pledge that much. Select any one of those rewards for now. You'll be able to tell me which other reward(s) you want in the survey after (and if) it's fully funded!
For example, you pledged for a Hobbit-Sized Plush (£65) and want to add on a Post-it note Monster Book (£10) and a postcard (£2). Pledge £72 and select one of the rewards, let's say the plush. When you get your survey at the end, be sure to let me know that you want all three items for your pledge, not just the plush! (Questions? Message me!)
Now, for the physical items that you know you're really here for. I'm still waiting for actual samples of some of these, so I'll update this as I get them.
Drowsy Aurora lip balm made by my dear friend at Nerdtastic. She crafted this flavor especially for Drowsy Aurora--spiced honey pear. I've worn it practically every day since I got the samples. It's really good. Be sure to give her a shout-out on her Facebook page and let her know I sent you! If you want to see any of her geek-inspired jewelry, housewares, or cosmetics, visit Nerdtastic.net

The reason for all of this.
Drowsy Aurora has been in business for two years now, but is lacking some basics--a work table, adequate storage, a sewing machine and a website.
I need to be able to work faster. Being able to make MORE plushies allows me to lower my prices. With a proper work area I'll be able to work more efficiently, not having to rearrange every time I need to package something, and be able to print shipping labels in the same room instead of on a different floor of my house. With adequate storage I'll be able to keep my felt from getting wrinkled and creased and I'll be able to keep fuzz off of it (do you know how tedious it is to pick stuffing off of felt?). With a sewing machine I'll be able to create larger plushies and more detailed ones. I'd absolutely LOVE to be able to create more complex plushies or plushies out of minky, but hand-sewing them takes much too long. Why do I need a website? I'd like to be able to sell my plushies on my own website. While I do appreciate sites like Etsy and Storenvy, I loose my identity there. More often than not when asked where you got that cute handmade item, you'll say "from Etsy." The shop itself is lost and Etsy gets all of the credit.
The things I make.
I make plushies. What is a plushie? It's a stuffed fabric sculpture--be it human, animal, monster, food, or otherwise. They are created to make you smile (and maybe even squeal with cuteness overload).
A lot of my plushies are inspired by geek-culture; one of my first sets was inspired by The Big Bang Theory. I've made dozens of plushies since then, inspired by everything from fairytales to Doctor Who to Harry Potter to superheroes.

The things I'm spending the money on.
Please note that totals have been rounded up for the following graphic. These totals also do not include the fees for this campaign.
Prices in USD. Note: calculated at an exchange rate of roughly 1.6, so prices are approximate, then rounded up.
The place where I work.
I moved into my house about six months ago and I'm still unpacking. Most of the boxes contain bits and pieces for my packaging, photo props, art and craft supplies, and so on. I don't have the storage for it right now, so it remains in boxes.
You can also see that my current work desk is a folding table and a couple of footlocker totes with a couple of boards laid across it.
Risks and challenges
I make every plush by hand. Orders aren't sent to a factory to be fulfilled. Each plush will take time to complete. I do hand cut each tiny piece and intricately hand sew each piece. The result is a sturdy plush! While I do not recommend playing with these, I've been told that a 19-month-old hasn't pulled his apart. The Hobbit-Sized dolls have more delicate hair, however, and should be treated as such.
Hobbit-Sized plush usually take 3-8 hours, Standard take 6-48 hours of work (not two days) to complete.
Whose plush will be worked on first? Those who order one of everything will get "first dibs." Otherwise, I will do my best to complete them in the order that I receive the completed backer surveys. This also means that it may take a very long time to complete orders if I have many backers.
What plushies can you request for your reward? For the Hobbit-Sized and Standard, basically anything humanoid. I'll ask for your top five characters and I'll go down the list until I find one that I can create.
For the Muffin Tops, I can create most animals, though I'm really terrible at making dogs. I've made dragons, turtles, ponies, penguins, and so much more.
I haven't made many types of Cookie Cats yet. Though I do have other designs in my head, so far I've only made plushies of the chocolate chip cookie cat and a fortune cookie cat. If you have any other suggestions or ideas, let me know!
I do request that you do not ask me to create any licensed characters for legal reasons.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
