Functional Benefits - Precision and Clarity
Our stylus tip uses capacitive coupling to produce a writing instrument unimpeded by foam or a plastic disc. You get a clear unobstructed view of the screen as you’re writing, sketching, scribbling or selecting, thus making PRECISE touch with visual clarity possible on tablets and smartphones.
How does it work?
Modern touchscreens work by using the electrical property of capacitance to detect touch. To mimic the large capacitance of a finger, current styluses use a large, continuous conductive surface. The advantage of the Zeppelin stylus is the principle of capacitive coupling, which is the principle that a single conductive wire has electric fields that extend well beyond the wire itself. By combining several conductive wire rings, the Zeppelin mimics a solid conductive surface with much less material, giving a clearer view.
The patent pending tip is formed from a single piece of tempered stainless steel wire which makes it very strong and flexible. The center spring coil allows the outer ring to pivot easily so that you can use the stylus at various angles.
The Zeppelin body has a unique aerodynamic look and solid ergonomic feel as it is constructed from solid aerospace grade aluminum. There are two rare earth magnets embedded inside for attaching itself to the iPad 2 or other magnetic surfaces.
The Zeppelin stylus cap was refined and iterated many times to complement the body design and naturally evolved into a rocket fin. Functionally, it prevents the stylus from rolling and allows the Zeppelin stylus to literally stand on its own.
Remaining Decisions: We need your input on the following items.
- Function or Form. Do you like the functional benefits or the way it looks? Functional - Looks - Both
- In what color(s) should be the cap be offered? Red - Black - Other
- What Metal Finish should the body do you like? Matte - Brushed - Polished
- Do you think the tip should be coated with black Teflon? Yes - No
- When you think of the name Zeppelin, which comes to your mind first? The band Led Zeppelin - the airship dirigible - Both
Where are we now and what needs to happen.
The Zeppelin Stylus has been prototyped, and vendors are anxiously waiting to produce it. Injection molding tools, especially high quality ones, cost money and time. If we meet our funding goal, we anticipate delivering the Zeppelin Stylus in November. Managing the suppliers is something that we do on a regular basis so you'll definitely get the goods if we meet our goal. We need your pledge to make this happen.
Retail price for the Zeppelin Stylus will be $59.
