Awesome shirts with a darker tone, but positive message! Help raise the funds to cover the launch of Drella Apparels' first line!
Hey, welcome to Drella Apparel's Kickstarter page! My name's Daniel and I'm the Creator, owner, and designer of Drella Apparel. I want to start off by saying thanks so much for taking the time to see and hear what I have to say! I've been doing graphic design for almost two years now for local bands and businesses and I feel that it's time to spread my branches and grow a bit.
The story behind Drella, bacically, as I just said, I've been doing designs for bands for a while now and it's something that I truly love doing. I've really been trying to think of ways that I can do more of it and be more successful overall. That's when I started thinking of designers that I idolize and look up to. The first two people that came to mind were Kyle Crawford and Dan Mumford. Both miles ahead of me, light years ahead of me in their careers even, but I just started to analyze their paths and choices. In doing so, I realized that they started doing their own thing aside from just working for bands. The way that they each did that was by starting to do designs for themselves and putting these designs on their on clothes, in turn creating their own brands.
Kyle's brands, Electric Zombie and Gravetakers, are actually two of my favorite brands of all time. I started looking a bit more into how he handles and maintains them, especially Electric Zombie, seeing how it's the older of the two. Something that I really liked and felt unified the brand were these cool little lines and slogans like "kill or be killed" "the streets are ours" and "feed the machine." I started thinking of what are some themes that represent who I am and what I believe in. The two main things that I kept coming back to were "Possible is Enough", simply meaning, if it's in the realm of possibility there's no reason that you shouldn't give it your all because if you want it bad enough and try hard enough, you can achieve absolutely anything in the world. That's something that I'm always reminding myself of nearly every day. Another thing that I try my best to not forget is that "Forward Can't Be Stopped." No matter how bad we may want to make the world stop turning, we can't. The past is past and that can't be changed. The best we can do is look forward and try to shape our future into what we want it to be. Both of these are things that I feel in my heart and I want to help other people to see and understand these philosophies.
With that in mind, I got to work and started on my designs. I really want all of the shirts I put out to be things that if I saw, I would buy and I would wear. If I wouldn't wear it, I won't be putting it out, simple as that, haha. Also, every design I do is something that is a piece of me in some way. A lot of them will be based on things I fell in love with as a kid, or inspired by music I love or some of my favorite books. I want Drella to be me printed on cotton. :P
In the end I came up with 6 designs for this first line of shirts and I already have a hard drive full of ideas for future lines so let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that this first line gets the support that I hope it will so I can make all of those a reality too! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and see what it's all about. :)
