Imagine a story so unbelievable that it needs to be unfold in a Graphic Novel. That’s our mission. We want to tell the amazing story of how the Tibetan national football team came into existence and their first international match.
It all started with a dream. Literally. My name is Michael Magnus Nybrandt, and I’m from Denmark. Some years ago - on a tandem bicycle tour in Tibet - I had a dream that I would manage the Tibetan national football team. I was no football manager and Tibet didn’t have a national football team. But I was troubled about the unfair treatment the country has been subjected to, so when I got back home I started to pursue the idea of establishing a Tibetan National Football Association and national team in order to create awareness and help unify the Tibetan culture. Together with fellow Tibetan football enthusiast it took years of study and hard work until Tibet played their first international match against Greenland.
Now the story will be adapted into a Graphic Novel, called Dreams in Thin Air. Together with the hugely talented illustrator Thomas Engelbrecht Mikkelsen I have been working on the project during the last 4 years. The book is about my adventures in Tibet, my dream and encounter with the Tibetan people and the numerous struggles including political harassment from the Chinese authorities before the Tibetan National Football Team could play their first international match against Greenland. It is a universal story of a dream – and how, through belief and determination, the most unrealistic of dreams can become reality.
That’s why we are here on Kickstarter. This ambitious book project is already well underway, with a finished manuscript and almost 2/3 of the artwork completed. Our Kickstarter goal, $28.000, will be invested in artwork, graphics, production, translation, proof-reading and ensure quality print copies in English and Danish titled "Drømme i Tynd Luft".
I hope you will join the adventure by making a pledge right here on Kickstarter. If you do - we will be able to complete the artwork and print the book independently - and you will be the first to receive a copy of Dreams in Thin Air / Drømme i Tynd Luft this Autumn. Please help us share and be a part of the story of the Tibetan football – make a pledge on Kickstarter today. The app. price in USD is displayed on the below reward illustrations.

Risks and challenges
We have big ambitions with this book and we truly believe in it's potential. Early in the creative process we had meetings and interest from publishers, but to finish the project and publish it on our own terms and conditions we decided to complete the mission on Kickstarter. The team behind the book have many years of professional experience with printing and graphic production and we made a serious plan and budget to manage the book safely through the last production stage. We have worked hard so far and we will continue until we have accomplished our commitments.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
