Igniting Dreams. Opening New Worlds of Opportunity.
The DreamKeepers Box is a fun and interactive monthly subscription box created for children ages 8-12. Each month's box will allow children to explore a different career as they learn about African American leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math, known as STEAM fields.
The DreamKeepers Box is the only subscription box that combines career exploration, STEAM education, and Black History.
The DreamKeepers Box aims to provide positive images and expose children to the rich diversity and amazing contributions of Black people, not just in February, but all year long. Our hope is that kids will dream big and see themselves as the next generation of leaders who will change the world!

Eleisha Nelson and Deena Williams met while working at a Los Angeles-based education nonprofit and found that they shared a passion for good food, funny internet memes, and making a difference in their community. Together, they have extensive professional experience in K-12 curriculum design, finance, and marketing. Their friendship evolved into a business relationship as they came up with the audacious idea to create a culturally relevant STEAM-based experience that would allow kids to dream big and see themselves as the next generation of business and civic leaders. They believe it is critical to provide positive images and expose kids to the rich diversity and amazing contributions of Black people, not just in February, but all year long.
The funds raised will be used for product development of our hands-on projects and collectible cards. Additionally, the campaign will enable the purchase of items in bulk and ultimately make boxes the most cost effective. Funds will also be used to commission both industry and education professionals to collaborate on the development of upcoming project themes.
We have big plans for the DreamKeepers Box and are excited about the kids who will be positively impacted by this special box.
Risks and challenges
We have spent the last six months planning, prototyping and getting feedback from industry professionals, parents, and children. The response has been tremendous! So many people have expressed excitement for this concept which has propelled us forward. We can’t wait for the big reveal of our first box in June, only available to Kickstarter supporters.
As we grow our subscriber base, we anticipate that we may run into some challenges in finding an adequate supply of African American children’s books. Children’s literature can be somewhat expensive, but we believe that they are an essential learning resource for children and add tremendous value to our product. We are committed to working with our vendors to find the best literature to accompany each month’s theme.
We have scoped out 18 months of boxes and have identified products and vendors for the first six months of boxes. We have built a production schedule that will provide us with sufficient lead time to avoid delivery delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
