Manufacturing Foot Pedals

We just placed an order for all the foot pedals needed to fill the Kickstarter orders.  Yah!!  Once they arrive in a few weeks it will be the first part of the Electric Eel Wheel completed.

We're still doing some small adjustments to the circuit boards, software, and the laser cut pieces so we're holding off ordering those parts, but we do expect to start ordering more parts soon.

As we stated on our project's page our plan was to have final assembly and testing done near our home which is just outside Boston. The campaign was more successful than we expected which had us a little worried if our local assembly person would have the time to assemble all the parts. The good news is we've now calculated how long it will take to assemble all these wheels and we're sticking with the original assembly plan. Local assembly is more expensive, but the advantages are we have more control over quality and it is much faster than trying to have final assembly done abroad.

So the summary of all this?  We're still on track to ship all our kickstarter rewards by August!!

It is a nice high quality foot switch. The cost for this vs a cheaply built one wasn't very much so we went with this one. The electronics inside are a very simple switch so nothing complex there.

BTW, this is a very heavy duty looking foot pedal and connection, it looks great! I guess I expected it to look like a sewing machine pedal, is it different because its electronic?

Awesome!!! I would rather you go local too....tho I think waiting longer would kill me! ;-) I do support you making that choice tho, keeping the quality control in your hands, and the funds spent local!
