It’s hard to find motorized window shades. You can retrofit your tilting blinds, but if you want a new set of shades, they cost $500+ and most cannot be controlled from an app and are not smart home compatible. AutoShades are based on a simple roller design and the cost savings are passed onto our customers. For a little bit more than the cost of a regular set of roller shades, you can have digital control of your window coverings.
A simple motor driven roller design allows for reliable and repeatable results.
AutoShades wouldn't be much help if they forced you to tap around hundreds of times inside their app just to roll down all the shades in your house. Grouping your shades turns opening or closing multiple into a one tap task.
Room Darkening shades are important to many people. Whether you work nights and need to sleep during the day, live in a demanding climate, or just want more privacy, automated roller shades with blackout fabric are the way to go.
Schedule your shades to open and close at certain times of the day! It is as easy as setting the time you want your shades to open and time you want them to close, let the automation do the rest.
Once you have secured the mounts to either side of the window (2 screws each), its as easy as pushing the roller into the mounts, and sliding in the battery pack! No professional installation needed.
With an easy to use mobile application as well as integration with Google Home, Amazon Alex, and Home Assistant (to name a few), controlling your shades has never been easier.

With great smart home systems already in place in many homes, we didn't want to reinvent the wheel. By integrating AutoShades with the top smart home ecosystems, we greatly increase the number of ways you control your shades.
We worked through many iterations of our project. This is an image of the most recent prototype that brings together all of the features shown in the video. We talked with manufacturers about this design and we are ready to jump into manufacturing after the campaign is complete. We look forward to creating the first production quality AutoShade for our amazing Kickstarter backers.
We chose Kickstarter as a way to launch this product because of the incredible feedback we can get from our backers through the rest of the development process. If we had just gone ahead and produced a finished product with little or no feedback from our users, we would be much more likely to miss out on a key feature or design element you all want!
With your feedback and financial support, we can bring an innovative product to market that makes everyone's daily lives easier.
If this campaign is successful, the funds will be used for molds, tooling, and manufacturing the first batch of AutoShades.
How do I choose a size for my shades?
After the Kickstarter campaign concludes, we will send an email to all of our backers asking them what size shades they would like, as well as any other choices that are unlocked through reaching the stretch goals outlined below!
Here is a look into how AutoShades have made it to this point as well as a roadmap for providing you with a finished product:

Risks and challenges
We have spent a lot of time thinking about what the future of AutoShades looks like, and we would be lying if we said everything will go off without a hitch. We have planned out the next several months, but even with extensive planning sometimes things can go wrong. If things go south in any way, our commitment to you, our backers, is to be 100% transparent. You are the first people to support us and we will not keep you in the dark.
Some of the potential challenges we see are scaling up manufacturing to meet demand. We believe we can have all of the components assembled and ready for shipping in December of 2019, but should something go wrong in our supply chain, the timeline may be pushed back.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
