UPDATE #3 – surprise, surprise and another surprise

Welcome to this our third update. We're back to keep you abreast of some of the hot goings on behind the scenes in our campaign and game.

First up – a huge thanks to all of you who have backed Ghost Theory and helped us spread the word. We still have a fair way to go but we've had so much fantastic support already that we're already maxed out with gratitude.

The state of the campaign

We’ve reached almost half of our campaign target, knocking on the door of a colossal 50% of the funds we need. We’re still very aware a lot of this was due to our original backers, who brought in 20% right after we launched; but we've also had loads of backers who are new. And our campaign closing run looks set to be great - there's already some real buzz stirring up over the final three days of the campaign (rallyyyy!!!!! - see below), and we'll also surely get an attention boost among other Kickstarter users as we approach the finishing line.

But we're certainly not hanging around waiting for success to fall from the sky. We want to assure you that we’re doing all we can to present Ghost Theory to horror game fans around the world. Here, just take a look at our list of press coverage.

Some of you already mentioned in the comments that, if we send a playable demo to popular Youtubers, our campaign will be flooded with glorious droves of generous backers. Well – that's exactly what we hope to find out... because a demo is on its way! We already have some press waiting to get their hands on the demo exclusively. Right now, we’re figuring out how best to turn several of our standalone prototypes into a meaningful showcase experience. We're pulling out all the stops to get the demo out before the end of the campaign, but it's going to be tough. Wish us luck (and send us caffeine pills).

Unveiling our 2nd exclusive reward for ralliers

As promised in our previous update, we’re revealing exclusive rewards for all those who participate in our end-of-campaign rally. One reward gets unveiled in every update. So, without further ado, let’s check out our second exclusive rally reward.

 We're going to make very happy everyone who asked us to put the Ghost Theory soundtrack into add-ons. All backers who raise their pledge by £10 on 10th of May, will receive the EXTENDED DIGITAL SOUNDTRACK as a reward. It will even feature some bonus music score that won’t be featured in the official soundtrack.

Another promise waiting to be fulfilled... Here it is! At last, our map of current locations suitable for inclusion in the game. Thank you for your patience. We hope you'll have all sorts of spooky fun browsing through it.

Is there a haunted place you’d like to see in Ghost Theory but is not on the map? No problem, just use this form to submit it for consideration. We’ll be updating the map as regularly as we can. If the haunting you've submitted makes it through our internal evaluation process, we’ll add it to the map. You’ll then be able to track its status: Have we contacted the owners? Did they respond? Are we going to reconstruct it as playable mission, or use it as a non-playable mission? Do we need more details? etc.

Please keep in mind that we prefer to feature haunted grounds that are well-known among ghost hunters, at least by local ones. But other than that, there are no limits – sites can be added from anywhere in the world! Just please use this form to help us how you can with our initial research – fill in links to the site's history, provide any pictures or logs from investigations and, most importantly, please help us with contact details of the owners. Naturally, we'll be reaching out first to those sites we have most information about.

Please feel free to submit as many locations as you want. Don’t wait. Dive in. Let’s make this game together!

Shouting-out the way we want

As you may already have noticed, we’re not using shout-outs as a primary means of cross promotion. We won’t shout-out to unrelated campaigns just because they have hundreds of backers (in order to get the favor back and draft some of their new backers ourselves). Our aim with shout-outs is to entertain you, our precious existing backers, and to point you to Kickstarter campaigns we think are both under-appreciated and may be of interest to you. That's very much the case for today’s shout-out.

Ur Guiding Light: A Paranormal Unity Project

The authors of this Kickstarter campaign are penning a paranormal book that will feature great true stories and journal sections, and will ultimately be used for paranormal team training. 

But wait, it gets even better. 

John Griffin, director of 'Uini Research' is trying to find ways to conduct probably the largest global paranormal research project in the modern history of mankind. He even has a real university professor to support it, just like in our game. “Uini Research continuously and tirelessly attempts to figure out ways to get the paranormal field to work together harmoniously regardless of their differences in beliefs and/or practices. It is our belief that EVERYONE contributes in some way to the field.“ With zero backers and 35 days to go, this book has been sorely overlooked so far. It definitely deserves more attention.

      @Jason - yes, if £10 or more is how much you plan to raise your pledge. The point is to give this campaign a new momentum to the final sprint.

      You might also consider kickstarter updates of concept art, real background history of the haunts, example asset pictures, etc.

      More updates = more interest. :D

      Oh, two of the places aren't too far out of the way for me. If I find the time, I must go and snoop around there!

      Is it alright to share the map outside of the campaign? I know a couple of people who might be interested in that sort of thing.
