Now that we’re midway through our campaign, we decided it would be a good time to introduce our small team. Three of us work in the office, the rest are external freelancers who contribute to the project in their own specific ways.
Jan writes the story and takes the lead on game design. He is a devoted game developer, with his first freeware game released back in 2004. Since then, he has worked on many titles and published three books about game development and game design (Czech language only). Jan holds the steering wheel for the whole project. In his free hours he enjoys juggling, hiking in nature and reading cyberpunk literature. He also loves RPGs and indie titles.

Prokop holds the art vision for the game and is responsible for most of the graphics and animations you see in our screenshots and videos. Having met Jan back in 2004 and made illustrations for freeware game Project Ignis in 2007, he began working with his old teammate again on Dex, starting with pre-production in the summer 2012. Prokop is an enthusiast of comics, anime, and cyberpunk art, plus all Metroidvania and Castlevania game titles.

Michal is both CEO and head programmer of our studio. Inspired by work of Jan and Prokop on Dex, Michal decided to adopt the creation of Dex under Dreadlocks as a company, providing technical/financial support and office space, as well as taking the role of the lead programmer on Dex. Michal is a technology enthusiast, keeping track of all the coolest new gadgets, devices, and trends in the IT/software/gaming market. Michal is a huge fan of the Metal Gear/Metal Gear Solid series.

Karel is our composer, the heart of the game’s soundtrack. His portfolio includes scores for over 50 projects, including short films, features, drama series, commercials, and videogames of various genres. In 2009 he won the award for Best Score at Game Developers Session (GDS). In 2011 he won Best Score again at the Underground Cinema Awards in Ireland. For Dex, Karel has prepared a special style of orchestral music flavored with electronic sounds and Eighties-era beeps and basses, augmented for today’s gamers and cyberpunk fans. In his free time, he enjoys biking and – like Michal – the Metal Gear Solid series.

Andrej is our dedicated sound guy. His works include many award-winning features, short films, TV series, and videogames. Some of his award-winning titles are Little Fighters (Best Film, Zurich, 2009), Klip (2010 1st Prize at Rotterdam Film Fest) and Just Like Me (Best Film, San Francisco Film Festival, 2012). His main hobby is playing acoustic guitar.
As proofreader and editor, Andy guarantees the quality of our in-game dialogues and texts, adding his own touch of flavor with the character traits, speech style, and cyberpunk slang. Andy also proofs all our PR releases. He has written and/or designed over 30 computer/video games, including Darkened Skye, M&M’s: The Lost Formulas, the Warcraft Adventure Game, and classic children’s games like Darby the Dragon. His experience and portfolio includes numerous screenplays optioned in Hollywood, dozens of ghostwritten books for top publishers, and an award-winning stage play.
Jan Cistin is our user interface designer and graphic designer. He takes care of all the GUI, icons, and menus in Dex, plus the website design for both the game and the studio. Jan is a comics fan and devoted board game player, with a special love of board strategy games with semi-realistic 3D plastic figures.

Jan Bastl is our tester and all-around troubleshooter. Having a technical background, he helps the team with bug reports, software installation, Linux distributions, and ensuring that Dex works as intended on all the supported platforms and devices. Jan joined the team over a year ago for a three-month internship and convinced us he would be a valuable addition to the team on a part-time basis, providing ongoing testing and technical support.
Having met our initial goal, we plan to enlarge the team (a bit). First, we will start choosing voice actors that fit the roles perfectly (with a few tips already in hand). For the final stage of the project, we intend to hire additional testers and perhaps more freelancers, skilled in their respective areas, to help us get this game as polished and great as possible.
