Cue sound effect: Ten thousand screaming electric guitars playing the theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey on twelve-foot-tall Marshall amps.
We are proud to announce that today we have released the final version of Dex!
It has been a long journey, and you have been with us all the way. The central concept, the art, the gameplay, everything about the game has evolved tremendously over the past two and half years – and you have been part of it by contributing in countless ways. You helped shape the final product and helped us get the attention and funds to push it to the finish line. Many thanks for all of your contributions!
Today we are happy to report that Dex is ready. That means we have released the full game, with all of its content, all of its voice-overs, and all of its finishing touches. And you are now invited to join in our little neo-cyberpunk odyssey!
Dex Launch Trailer
We have prepared a new, final, and – may we humbly suggest – most awesome trailer to showcase the final state of the game. Enjoy and share!
We have also prepared a bunch of screenshots to help get you primed!
Oh, and if you are a press member/blogger/Let’s Player, you can find all the above materials (and more!) in our press kit for you to use on your sites or in your videos.
We are also discussing the release on GOG, so it is quite possible that in a few weeks Dex will also be available through GOG. (More info on that soon.)
OUYA and Wii U
Right now we have the Windows/Linux/Mac versions ready. The other platforms will follow in the weeks and months to come: OUYA very soon and the Wii U version around this summer. We’ll make a separate announcement with more details on the consoles soon.
Does this mean it’s all over?
Not exactly. Right after the release we plan to start working on the missing extra pieces we promised – the art book, the extended soundtrack, the map of Harbor Prime, and all the other digital and physical goodies. Most of the work has been done already, but it will take some time to wrap it all up and deliver it in polished form.
When will everything be delivered?
The game is good to go now. Ready, willing, and able :-). We intend to finish and release all the promised extras over the course of next month. The shipping of all physical goods is scheduled for early June, so please double-check the shipping address in your Kickstarter account by May 30th at the latest, so we can ship all the orders together. We have an external company handling the shipments and manufacturing for us – the content, of course, is created by us, as always, and will have the same Dex bro-love as all the other cyberpunk stuff we’ve made!
Game Extension Stretch Goal as Free DLC
We didn’t forget – don’t worry: Earlier, during our Kickstarter campaign, we were deciding whether to embed the game extension stretch goal (unique armors set and some extra content) within the game upon release or whether to release it separately as free DLC. We finally decided to offer it as one of the first free DLCs (post-release updates) to everyone who has bought the game (meaning both you, backers, as well as gamers who bought the game on Steam). We’ll post more detailed info about this in a month or so.
As announced earlier during our Kickstarter campaign, we will be having a Dex Release Party soon. We will announce the exact date later this week – but it is going to be about three to four weeks from now.
Final – very final – plea to our community!
We would greatly appreciate it if you would help us spread the word. Now more than ever! Please share the trailer, tell your friends about the game, tweet it, Digg it, Reddit it; anything and everything will help!
And, of course, once you play the game, give us your feedback, write user reviews on Steam, whatever you’re inspired to do!
