About this project
This is our first kickstarter project for the upcoming animation, Rise of the Dread Emperor. Rise of the Dread Emperor is a 3D animation created by José Cabada. Jose was inspired to write and direct this from events that took place in his life, and inspired by the woman he loves. José wants to tell a dark and grim story about a man who has lost his wife and daughter. Demons from his past haunt him, every memory is precious to him. His memories replay over and over in his mind, each time a little part of him is rip away. Replaying his own personal hell, memories to this man are his enemy. Will he gather the strength he needs to move on? Or will his soul be taken back to a dark abyss, where his demon awaits him? A demon that some called The Dread Emperor.
Aren't animations expensive?
Yes, animated films are usually very expensive. A typical hollywood CG film averages between $500,000 - $2 million. We'er looking for funds to create and show our concepts for a trailer. But finding the right animator for the right price is hard. Plus the project needs funding for story boarding and video editing. Not to mention a sound editor for the trailer. Things get pretty pricy in the animation world, and we are hopping that this kick start page will help us on our way to creating this animation.
How long will it take?
we don't know, we can't finish the film within our budget, because we don't have a budget to start with. However, Rise of the Dread Emperor took only 8 months to complete the script and find a rag tag crew. But, our crew has a lot more experience, and they're so excited about this project that they've agreed to take time away from their normal jobs to dedicate themselves completely to Rise of the Dread Emperor. All contributions will go towards a whirlwind 6-week production schedule, with all of our artists working together in the same location. Will 6 weeks be enough to finish? Hopefully, but even if we only get 80% finished during that time, we should easily be able to do the remaining work after hours like we did with Rise of the Dread Emperor. And of course, all pledges and rewards will be handled by the director Jose Cabada.
