The Capital of the World | Manhattan 2185 by Ben Counter UNLOCKED! '100 Backer Playtest' announced!

Posted by Dragon Turtle Games (Creator)

"I'm walking here!" Welcome to Manhattan 2185

We've smashed £75000 and have UNLOCKED 'The Capital of the World | Manhattan 2185 by the legendary Ben Counter!

Where will you stand in the population of Manhattan, a playground for the social elites?

While the five boroughs of New York Megacity are filled with tens of millions of people, Manhattan island is home to a population that lives to serve the elites. From the pop star turned private showgirl entertaining them, to the former chemistry teacher now manufacturing and selling them illicit drugs, everyone lives to serve in Manhattan.

Let's not forget about the societal rejects who make the city's extensive sewer and subway systems their home. Down below the streets, you won't just find rodents, but bands of cyberpunks, CEO worshipping cultists, and murder-for-hire gangs. These people serve in a different way, as muscle, assassins, corporate spies, data thieves, and any other job you wouldn't want people on your official payroll to get caught up in.

The Capital of the World | Manhattan 2185 by Ben Counter will be included as a free PDF to all backers at every level. It's also available as a softcover add-on that you can get by just adding £20 to your current pledge!

We've had very enthusiastic cyberpunks asking us if we will be having any backer playtests, and we've always said YES! 100 Backers will get the chance to playtest the game before it's released! We hadn't decided how to pick these 100 backers, since you're all awesome, so we decided that the fairest way (I know, fair? Not very cyberpunk of us!)  was to randomly choose 100 backers out of everyone who backed for a physical copy of Carbon 218

This would be cool. Hopefully I get to try it out lol.

Maybe you can offer in survey a tick box for "Would love to be playtester" and randomly choose 100 from the these?

I'd kill to be in that playtest, I am hyped for this. Chances are reallllly low even though we're probably going to get a few more people on board. So even lower than they are already

    4. Matt Drake

I'm not going to be able to help as a playtester, so if I wind up one of those 100, you can skip it. I'm mostly buying the book to read it - I play very few RPGs, but I love reading them.

You probably all know this, but this update is missing the number '5' at the end of the main body of text

@Dan you never know! We really wish we could open it to everyone!
@Corentin We'll throw some Longs in the fountain at the Angel of the Waters for good luck!
@Frank We chose 100 playtesters as we our previous playtests were also limited to 100 people. This is because we have to process the feedback from each of these people and make adjustments based on that! We're a small publisher, and processing feedback from even 100 playtesters is already a strenuous task. Opening up the playtest to all backers would potentially delay the release by months

Would love to get in on the playtest but as I can't win even a 50/50 coin toss, pretty sure I'll miss out.

Why only 100 backers of a certain level as playtesters? - Other games offer a free quickstarter adventure/rules intro for everyone. That way every supporter of this game can give it a try, not just an elite group.

Hope I'll be part of the 100 chosen Cyberpunks :o *crossing fingers*
