What do you do when you've written a script that has received great feedback, and has legit actors who believe in the project, yet nobody wants to make your "little" film? You make it yourself, right!
We did just that with Nominated, and indie comedy about a former childhood TV star who has a chance at a comeback when he is nominated for an Oscar. It's a great comedy that was superbly acted and produced, for under $25,000. This was only possible because of the incredible generosity of the cast, crew, and volunteers who worked for next-to-nothing. They really did believe in the project!
So we have a completed feature film, complete with a real TV star, Carl Lumbly, of Alias and Cagney & Lacey. Now what? It seems that our only chance to gain exposure is by taking the movie on the film festival circuit. Now I know that there isn't really an official festival "circuit", but there are literally thousands of festivals around the world, and many of them do a great job of showcasing small indie films - just like Nominated.
Problem is, we spent every last dime getting this movie in the can. All favors, freebies, and leads have been exhausted, and we still need about $2500 to cover the expenses of entrance fees and marketing materials required at festivals.
We truly believe that if you take a look at the clips and information behind this grass roots production, you will be compelled to help us spread the word that quality indie movies can be made on a micro budget, and that there is an audience for these kind of films.
If you're a fan of films like Little Miss Sunshine and Juno, please stop by www.nominatedthemovie.com, or our IMDB.com page to see what Nominated is all about. With your help, this project will be a success, and you'll be able to enjoy our movie at a festival near you! Thanks very much.
