About

The Shadow Prophecies have come true - dark evil spreads through the land. Ferocious battles are being fought on Earth, but the Sky Realm and Underworld have now opened and a three way battle for victory ensues.

Welcome:

Welcome to the Shadow Prophecies - Trinity.

Having played tabletop RPG games since the 1980's, and various tabletop card games since the mid 90's, I have combined my passion for both to create the Shadow Prophecies - Trinity. The game will combine the roll of a dice with the speed and convenience of tabletop card games.

Game Play:

In this Trinity edition, each player possesses three decks. Each deck represents one of the three worlds: These consist of the Earth, the Underworld and the Sky Realm. Each player must also retain at least three cards in hand at all times.

Each player will take it in turns to attack their opponent. This is done by taking a card from one of their three decks and presenting it into the battle. Alternatively, a player can play one of their hand held cards instead. Their opponent must then respond by doing the same.

Once both cards are placed into the middle of the playing field, the player initiating the battle then chooses to play one of his creature's strengths: Sorcery, Acumen or Combat, for which they will be allocated points.

Both opponents will then take it in turns to roll a d20 dice to add to their points and the player with the highest total will win the battle.

The loser will then place his losing card aside and the winner can either leave their card in the battlefield, keep it in hand or replace it back into their corresponding deck. The game will continue and a player will then become victorious once their opponent loses all three of their worlds.

The idea for the game is based on the saying: "You may have won the battle, but you have not won the war" i.e. you can lose one or two of your decks, but still win the overall game.

Along with their points, certain cards will have other strengths, for example, the ability to take out multiple cards or, when combined with other cards, the ability to roll additional d8 or d12 dice for extra hit points.

Additionally, some cards can only defeat cards from the same corresponding deck/world and so, should your opponent have already lost one of their worlds, then the roll of your dice will have a negative impact on your points total.

By combining cards, players can choose to defend instead of attacking. If they choose to do so, defence cards must be presented face up and placed round the desired world/deck - thereby building up a defence layer around one of their worlds.

Whilst this does have its advantages, the disadvantage is that your opponent will see these cards and can therefore build a strategy to attack them. There will be many caveats along the way.

What's in Each Pack:

Each boxed core starter pack will contain three decks: Each representing the Underworld; Earth and the Sky Realm. A deck will comprise of 40 cards - giving a sum total of 120 cards per pack. The core sets will also include a d8, d12 and d20 dice.

The limited edition expansion packs will also consist of one deck for each world: the Underworld; Earth and the Sky Realm, however, each deck will comprise of 60 cards. The Expansion set will also include 10 spell cards and 10 weapon cards - giving a sum total of 200 cards per expansion pack. The expansion sets will also include d8, d12 and d20 dice.

Inspiration:

My background is in computer programming and I am also three years into studying a part-time Degree in Astronomy. I recently completed an experiment on space weather and geomagnetic storms. It was here that I imagined solar flares as dragon flames raining down on Earth and volcanic activity as an underworld rising up through the land. This is where my idea for the game began to take fruition.

Funding Goal:

I created the prototype cards for the campaign and I shot the videos and my voice over using my mobile phone. As such, whilst a proportion of the cost for the final product will obviously be assigned to printing and distribution, a significant amount of the funding will therefore be allocated to the graphics and bespoke illustrations.

Having three decks in each pack, and placing an emphasis on unique illustrations, has pushed the funding target up. However, growing up, I was fascinated by the cover illustrations of RPG box sets and adventure game books and so the character illustrations will be very important to me.

Thank you:

Thank you for taking the time to visit my campaign and, should you decide to pledge, many thanks in advance.

Thanks and credit due:

Risks and challenges

The associated risks for the project would be that this is my first product campaign, however, I have twenty years experience of working in computer programming - of which, the last 8 years have been at a management level. As such, my day to day role involves project management and I have a successful track record for meeting project deadlines and milestones.

I understand the importance of up-to-date and honest communication and so backers will informed of the project progress along every step of the way.

Additionally, the images shown in this campaign are prototypes only and so the final product may differ in appearance and design, however, the basic premise for the game will be retained at all times.

Finally, the main driver for its success would be to see my vision become a reality.
