Do you remember the feelings of awe and wonder you felt as you experienced the world and nature as a child? This beautiful book takes you back and lets you experience those feelings once again as you explore the wonders of Earth through a young author's eyes.
Elle Harris is the perfect guide for this journey, since she is an eight-year-old herself! Elle is in the second grade and loves to read, sing, and play soccer. And now, with your generous support, she is very excited to become an author.
Elle grew up watching her older sister, Bailey Harris, who is the successful author of the Stardust book series (and, incidentally, started writing when she herself was eight). Over the past few years as she has watched Bailey, Elle has dreamed of writing her own book.
Elle and her family spent a week in Asia, experiencing cultures that were completely new to them. Elle was inspired by the places they saw and the people they met as they toured this amazing continent.
On their flight back from Shanghai to New York City, Elle asked her father if she could borrow his laptop to write a book about her favorite things on Earth. She spent the next few hours typing the first draft of Wonderful Earth.
Elle is working with talented illustrator Scott Lewis Broom to create imagery that helps capture the awe and wonder of her favorite things on Earth. Elle personally laid out examples of what she wanted each page to look like and works with Scott to ensure that the words that she wrote are brought to life as she imagined them.
Risks and challenges
The illustrations are being finalized and we hope to have a final designs ready by the end of June. We expect to print the book in July and then ship the rewards to backers in September. All projects have some risk, but we have managed various other successful Kickstarter campaigns for books and don't expect to have any issues with completing this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
