Teamstream #20 Tomorrow!

We’re ready to roll with Teamstream #20. We’ll be going live TOMORROW at 4PM Pacific (23:00 GMT) on Friday, May 16th! Tune in at

Extended Playtest Tomorrow

It's great to sit down and take stock of the project at pretty much every point of development. But it's even more important now that the video game actually feels like a real Video Game!

We realized the other day that we’ve only been showing the game in small snippets during the Teamstreams. It’s cool to dive deep into the creation of a specific feature, but we thought it would be cool to show you the big picture of what it’s like to play the game in its current pre-Alpha stage. We’ll be doing an extended playtest of the game, hosted at Brad’s desk!

Brad will be rocking a Google Spreadsheet™ to track any notes while he’s playing. We’ve made this one public so you can take a look at it if you want to! Here’s a link if you care to follow along at home! :D!

$100 Tier Giveaway

We still have some more $100 Tiers of MASSIVE CHALICE courtesy of backer Mark Kalinic! We’ll give one of these away during the stream tomorrow! :D!

And remember that this tier will let you design your own Bloodline for MASSIVE CHALICE using the Bloodline Editor!

Bloodline Editor Revamp

We've been working with Flash contractor wizard Jonathan Rodgers (@darkforestzero) on the Bloodline Editor and he's almost done. Derek has finished the final batch of symbols and we're going to roll out codes to Bloodline Backers in just a few weeks! (There’s still time to become a Bloodline Backer. Go here!)

We made one small change to the editor last week. Every time we display a sigil in-game we display it as a cool stylized banner. So why not let our backers edit that actual banner instead of just a square? We're hoping that we get even cooler looking sigils with this change when you're able to put symbols onto those neat triangles hanging off the bottom of your banner! :D

Check out this rad flaming stag banner that Derek made!

UI Updates

Derek’s been jamming on all aspects of UI design. That with Dan and Chad gettin’ it all coded up you’ll see a lot of these in the game tomorrow, like the new Hero Retinue list and the Regency Appointment screen!

We’re also starting to design and implement the final version of the Tactical HUD. Here’s some cool exploration from Derek of what it might look like!

Can’t Join Us Live?

In case you can’t make the live broadcast you can find all our Twitch streams on the Double Fine YouTube channel here. And if there’s anything you want to talk about feel free to come to the MASSIVE CHALICE FORUMS and start a discussion! You can always check out the MASSIVE CHALICE blog for the latest updates from various team members. See you Friday!

That's a straw man argument. Yes, you can combine these 95 images in literally billions of ways.
The simple fact of the matter is the sigil editor does not have a large enough library of images. It's only got 5 weapons, for crying outloud. It has only one flower. You've heard of the war of roses, right? Flowers where a big part of heraldry. As where weapons. and animals.

@Matthew, have you looked at what symbols are in the bloodline editor?
@Matthew, did you see the wide and diverse requests the community filed? almost none of which have gotten in.

I do understand you feel happy and satisfied. I am happy for your sake. But the wife and I have a sigil already, and it's not possible to build it with the tools they presented.

Man that UI looks gorgeous. I feel like I have already gotten my moneys worth on this project simply from the constant influx of design porn that comes from these updates and your blog.

I am a fellow blood line backer, but Double Fine seems to be handling this just fine. Keep in mind you can combine up to 5 different elements, which gives you ~7737809400 different choices, not including positioning. I think that there is more then enough choice to have each backer have a unique and individual sigil.
You may argue the choices for each layer are bad, but the amount of choice doesn't seem off. Even counting the two arrows as one choice doesn't significantly the amount of options you have.

Love how the blood line editor only has 5 weapons (two of which are arrows) as of 7:45AM CST 5/16/2014.
This is not what was promised last year, and seems to have ignored feedback on the thread meant to touch with the community and find out what we bloodline backers wanted.
I will be PMing for a refund as described:

Serously, only 17 animals, 28 shapes, 6 environments, 14 nature objects, 11 object objects, 14 organic objects, & 5 weapons (two of which are arrows?!) = 95 total.
      You have 2,152 bloodline backers.
That's a ratio of 22 bloodline backers per singular image. Sorry guys, this feels like it's phoned in.
Couldn't get bloodline backer artwork done despite it raising an extra ~$172,160? v_v

...oh and the screens look purty, I like what I am seeing, keep up the good work :)

I really like the Google Spreadsheet™.
