Teamstream #3 Tomorrow!

We’re firing on all cylinders and crushing it in pre-production! We’re hammering out priorities, estimating stuff and gaining focus. Along with Brad and John being back we’re happy to announce that Andy Wood is joining MASSIVE CHALICE as Art Director and Chad Dawson is joining us as Lead Programmer. Andy and Chad are both game industry veterans who worked together on The Cave. We’re stoked to have them both on the team!

Teamstream #3 Thursday!

Tomorrow Thursday, August 1st, we’ll be hosting our third Teamstream! Tune in to at 3PM Pacific (22:00 GMT) where we’ll be talking about the current state of pre-production and discussing more of our early design ideas. As always we’ll end with a Q&A session to let you guys tell us what’s on your mind!

If you missed our previous Teamstreams, no problem! You can view them on Double Fine’s YouTube channel at any time!

We’re looking forward to hanging out with you on the Teamstream. See you Tomorrow!

@Fulbertful There's nothing to show yet. There are more concentrated pockets of information on the Double Fine forums.

I'm too knackered to keep up with this anymore.

I really wish you did some actual updates, guys. I can't be arsed to watch streams as they ususally turn out to be hours of raw unstructured footage with about ten minutes worth of content.

Improved ideas for my suggestion below: The point of having the uber hero is to be a random awesomeness who is distinctly different, but to implement sweeping new movesets would be both onerous and unwieldy (not to mention expensive). Thus I thought about it and decided the easiest option would be to implement the upgraded moves as numerical upgrades (double the hits or double the damage, or something else cool) coupled with a palette swap on the move animations (set red fire to be in blues and purples, set sword swings to have gold accents, etc.) The net alterations would be minor to do this. However, in addition, these uber heroes also get one of a set of four super abilities which are entirely dependent on the house that spawned them (thus cycling back to the unique house idea). I was guessing something like pyroclast (blades, spells, arrows all lit with magical fire and hit with burn DOT) and others. Then, the special marking they have on their character is dependent on which of the four it is. This would restrict the necessary additional animation to four across the roster of bodies, reinforce the house ideal, and allow for actual strategy coupled with the idea I stated below. You could even let each person who names a house choose their ability from the pool.

Just finished watching your second stream off youtube. A suggestion: Make a hero for every combination of two classes and skills. Then randomly select a set of 3-4 for each game. These prophesized chosen heroes are recorded in ancient tomes which are hard to find and harder to interpret. If you spend research time on it, though, you can find out what they are. OR, you just might randomly have one drop. The limitation is resources. I would recommend there being a better version of each ability which you get procedurally with the rare hero, and the character model is identical, but they have a mark of some sort (gold stripe, lightning bolt, port-wine stain, a visual cue) that shows you they are a rare hero.

I have faith in you guys and believe you will give us a kick-ass game BUT would also love you to comment on the elephant in the room named budget management.

Most kickstarter projects show some form of gameplay when pitching projects and you guys earned 1 Million+ dollars for pre-production, development, documentary and physical rewards.

when seeing how many things need cash outside the main game development I would like to see you enlighten us in the matter.

hope you deliver an awesome game!

Really excited to see what you are coming up with! I am going to love this game!

Totally read that second sentence as "eliminating staff"
