Sick Of It All
Comedy featuring Chris Doubek, The Sklar Brothers & Harry Dean Stanton. Completion Funds Needed! Black & white, Noir style, comedy!
SICK OF IT ALL SYNOPSIS
Which came first the chicken or the egg? The child or the grown up? Sometimes it's hard to tell! The grown up can act more childish than the child. But it can go the other way as well. The child can be the more mature one who also comes out with all sorts of wisdom to teach the grown up. Now the only problem is the grown up has to listen. This is a major theme explored in Sick Of It All.
Sick Of It All's leading hero is ANTONY, a stressed out grown up, who is a toy collector that lost his youthful ways which gave him his original love for toy collecting. Perhaps he lost his youth through years of telemarketing. Or it could be his constant struggle with the future and technology. But maybe it's because he finds himself in what might appear to be a loveless relationship with his girlfriend of ten years, ROSE. Is it time for Antony to grow up? Or will he take the advice of his whimsical, old soul, 7 year old nephew known as L.P. and find his youth and himself again?
AMAZING CAST FEATURES
We are so excited to work with the ledgendary Harry Dean Stanton, and the super talented and always funny Sklar Brothers, again. Plus adding everyone's favorite indiependent film actor Chris Doubeck to our team is a dream come true! More info below in the Sick Of It All Cast section below.
SICK OF IT ALL - THE LOOK & INSPIRATION
Sick Of It All will be filmed in Black & White, by Director of Photography Robert Murphy, in Film Noir Style. Black & White is one of Murphy's specialties.. Such as his work in the film In Search Of A Midnight Kiss
"Photographed in glorious black and white by Robert Murphy." --Roger Ebert
A dark comedy, greatly inspired by the famous and well loved French children's book, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupér., The Little Prince has touched writer/director Brian McGuire's heart and kindly haunted his brain through out his life.
AWARD WINNING WRITER/DIRECTOR - BRIAN MCGUIRE & HIS FILMS
Writer/Director Brian McGuire has completed 6 amazing low budget independent films in the last 4 years. Brian is inspired by the great films of the 90's and such filmmakers: Jim Jarmusch, Todd Solondz, Richard Linklater and has tried to capture the fun in said film making. Always approaching his films with loads of creativity and truth. Each film that Brian has made has been completed On Time, Under Budget, and each film has received a Distribution Deal! The same will go for SICK OF IT ALL as there is all ready interest from two distribution companies.
Just one of many good examples of McGuire's films, CARLOS SPILLS THE BEANS Starring Joey Capone, C.C. Sheffield, The Sklar Brothers, James Duval, Mark Boone Junior & Harry Dean Stanton. A hilarious dark comedy about a large family who owns a restaurant, will be released on June 19th on Cable, the internet, & V.O.D.
Brian won "BEST NEW FILMMAKER OF THE YEAR" in 2010 at The Downtown Film Festival Los Angles for not only writing & directing ON HOLIDAY, but for co-writing, producing, and acting in Everything Will Happen Before You Die.
But Brian would never claim that he has made these films alone. You will see a lot of the same faces playing different roles in his films. Such as John Hawkes, James Duval, Mark Boone Junior. And the same goes for behind the camera as well. Making movies is tough and needs love. Keeping your family tight is important!
McGuire's & family 4th film, PREVERTERE,won "BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE" at the DFFLA Film Fest 2013. London based, ROOMS MAGAZINE had this to say -"Prevertere is a film that delves into the dirty corners of relationships the way only indie movies can – it is honest, unrestrained and ferociously intelligent." The cast of Prevertere features very strong performances from Pollyanna McIntosh ( Filth, Lucky McKee's The Woman ) & Italian Oscar winner, Antonella Ponziani (Fellini's Intervista).
These films are made with a family vibe and tell stories that most major studios shy away from or homogenized. Brian and his family believe in independent film and story and have dedicated their lives to it. When you are making 6 feature films in 4 years, you quickly find out, that film and filmmaking is life.
In a recent interview with RANK & REVUE for their 2014 SXSW FILM FESTIVAL Issue, Brian McGuire discusses his 20 year career as an independent filmmaker. Read it HERE!

ZION MCGUIRE - L.P.
Zion is truly an amazing old soul trapped inside a 7 year old who is the main inspiration and responsible for getting his Uncle Brian McGuire to want to write and make this movie. Zion loves to wear suits and bow ties. He loves doing impressions of old men. Zion will steal your heart! No one is more excited about the project than Zion!
Emmet is brother to Uncle Brian, and father to Zion. Emmet has acted in every film that his brother has made. He is a music producer and performer. Emmet's work as an actor in Carlos Spills The Beans, playing "Ed Boyle" is the stuff of legend. The role of Barbra was written for his brother Emmet!

Chris Doubek is a long time legendary actor in the indie film scene, hailing from the great Austin, Texas. Some of his many great films are, LOVERS OF HATE, A TEACHER, COMPUTER CHESS, GOOD NIGHT, SLACKER 2. The role of Camillian takes a special human to play the part. Camillian is a brand new type of "New Age" guru. Chris is more than enough ‘special’ to fill these "New Age" shoes, and of course this role was written for Mr. Doubek.

FOSTER TIMMS - Snake
Foster Timms is not a human. He is someone you invented on first meet. He is the original old soul. He is a brilliant musician, perhaps the Bob Dylan of our time. As an actor Foster has wowed audiances with his performance in 9 FULL MOONS and ON HOLIDAY. Again, no one else could play Snake but Foster. This will be his fourth movie with Mr. McGuire

"Holdridge, in consort with his director of photography, Robert Murphy, has delivered a beautiful piece of work. It is shot in black-and-white—proper black, as rich and as sleek as cat's fur, not the washed-out tin grays that you might expect. Murphy is treading in the footsteps of the James Wong Howe who shot 'Sweet Smell of Success' and the Gordon Willis who shot 'Manhattan.'" --Anthony Lane, The New Yorker

WHY KICK STARTER & WHAT WILL WE DO WITH THE MONEY??
When coming up with a budget we came to a total of 60k.
The 60k would be divided into 3 parts.
20k for 2 Week of production
Brian has planned out a schedule for two weeks of shooting. This pays the cast, crew, insurance, union fees, wardrobe, lights, camera, food!, etc.
20k for Post Production
The post budget goes to paying for an editor, post sound and color.
