DoubleDJ is a queer dance trio made up of Dan, Donnell, and Jessica.
Dan Paz is an artist who mainly uses video and is especially interested in the exponential potential of collaborative art-making.
We are making a dance video together and need help funding the production costs. We will be shooting on location for four days with a full crew of amazing friends from our community. All of us are working simply for the love of it!
The video will dramatize the story of DoubleDJ’s formation laced with heightened performance egos and stilettos! This intergalactic, Narnia-laden, Beyond-Thunderdome venture will combine DoubleDJ’s choreographic genius and dance moves with Dan Paz’s cinematic stylings to create a video that will reach a broad, internet-based audience. We are going where no person has gone before and we wanna take YOU there!
We believe that community is important. We believe that collaboration is the way to salvation.
We are self-producing this video and with YOUR help are hoping for a planned release in the early Summer of 2012.
***The above video is a look at DoubleDJ in action, captured by Dan Paz. We spent a day in our rehearsal space and on location exploring movement and the relationship between the dance and the camera.
And here is another example of our collaborative work. DoubleDJ performs our signature piece "Stilettos" on a Sunday morning in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Dan Paz shot our outdoor performance with four cameras and created this awesome video. (watch it in HD if you can).
