"Many have lamented the city’s loss of culture (and the weirdness that keeps it unique), but still, artists and performers find a way to adapt. Doc Pop is one of those people. The multi-faceted artist is a creative as well as an observer, and was so inspired by the fundamentalists frequenting the Powell cable car junction, he decided to present his own doctrine: God Hates Dinosaurs." - Live 105/CBS Local
I made a comic called "God Hates Dinosaurs" that's a satirical book about how superheroes are rad and dinosaurs are bad. It's just plain silly and I'd like to give away 1,000 copies to strangers in San Francisco and beyond. Update: Now that we've reached that goal, you can help us reach the stretch goals to print an extra 666 comics and open source the project for anyone to translate/remix/distribute.
I wrote and illustrated God Hates Dinosaurs during a consecutive 24-hour comic jam in San Francisco. It tells the story of a young child named Tim who helps a blind atheist cross the street, only to find out the blind man is actually Satan in disguise. Luckily Tim is saved by a new superhero in town, The Humanist. The two then join forces to help spread a new wave of self reliance across the world, only to discover rules are there for a reason. It's 24 pages of manic/frenzied/crazytime black and white art and delirious writing.
God Hates Dinosaurs is inspired by Chick tracts, the bizarre and unintentionally hilarious comics created by Jack T. Chick. I thought that by adding robots and superheroes, I could make something even weirder than a Chick tract.
By backing this project you can help brighten a strangers day with the Truth...about dinosaurs and robots.
Just a little about me: I've backed over 200 Kickstarter projects, helped dozens of creators with their own KS projects, and have created 2 other projects on my own. I love making public art projects like this, but I have a lot of other ongoing projects. Feel free to check out my chiptune music and my year long 3D City wiggle-photo project.
If you are a blogger or news outlet, feel free to contact me or download the God Hates Dinosaurs press kit here (filled with gifs, stills, and pages from the book).
I've received a lot of help from friends in the past and I'd love to pay-it-forward. If you ever have questions about your own projects or just want someone to look at your crowdfunding draft before you launch, please hit me up and I'll try to help you out if I can.

Risks and challenges
My goal is to keep this project as simple as possible. The books are finished, the digital copies are ready to go, and my printers are just a BART ride away. I've figured out printing and shipping costs and I think this project is as low risk as you could imagine.
To be totally transparent, my last project was moderately successful, but my biggest rewards got lost in customs. I've ordered a second batch from the manufacturer and I'm trying to get my delayed rewards to my backers as soon as possible. That's why I wanted to keep this thing as simple as possible by locally sourcing my printing and not worrying about importing hassles.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
