- The D.I.Y Tour
The D.I.Y Tour came to life June 1, 2013. However, the idea formed around the time our band, Maybe Neverland, started writing songs and playing at open mics. We would often talk about what it would be like to tour the UK and then the rest of the world. Out of these conversations grew the notion, ‘dreams are only dreams if all you do is dream’. So we contacted venues, like minded artists, local music lovers and created our own tour. We did 50 shows in 60 days, performing anywhere from fashion shows, to music showcases, to summer festival main stages to secret gigs. We called it The D.I.Y Tour and ran with it.
Where We Are Now
Although, this tour began with music it has never been limited to music alone. Our goal was to strike a chord in the heart of like-minded artists: those who see independence in the arts as a blessing and a freedom instead of something they must endure before they really “make it”. The beautiful reality of independence is that we have already made it. We’re doing what we love to do. We value each stage of our journey, without wishing our future would come sooner. It is a wonderful thing to dream big, but not if you neglect to live in the time it takes to get there. So this is it. We’re leading, we’re learning, and we’re living.
We now have the privilege of teaming up with independent photographers, videographers, graphic designers, artists, more musicians, as well as our independent record label, EVOYMG, to bring you the most innovative touring platform to exist. Our reasons for expansion are two fold: as mentioned above, we want to work with artists who are courageous enough to independently do what they love, but we also want to be able to artistically document and show the world what independence in music can look like for those who have enough belief and drive to never give up. Our hopes are that you will get involved, become inspired, and influence others to join the movement.
Maybe you're already interested or inspired, or maybe it'll take a few more minutes to sink in. But many of you are probably wondering where do we start? Or where do we go from here? Well we wouldn’t be true to ourselves if we didn’t go big. So we're starting with the world, one country at a time. For us there is nothing that screams independence more than embarking on an independent world tour. Maybe at this point you're thinking we’re crazy, maybe that excitement you felt moments ago is slightly heavier with apprehension. But just remember, when we started the tour in 2013 many people-whether it was quietly or blatantly-labelled us as crazy. But we did 50 shows in 60 days, we wrote over 20 original songs in 3 months, and now we're here doing what we originally said we would do, touring the world starting with the UK.
It is evident that this ‘Do It Yourself Tour’ is different from an any other before it, even in Kickstarter standards. In the official Kickstarter Guidelines it states, “a project is something with a clear end…[it] will eventually be completed, and something will be produced as a result”. In compliance with these rules, we’re obligated to tell you that your support will fund and help the 2014 portion of the D.I.Y Tour: The Domestic (UK) Tour, and cover the costs for travel, as well as the necessary equipment (further information below). However, as you might have guessed, our vision for this tour does not end with this year. This is a once-in-a-lifetime type of tour that we hope to turn into something that continues on longer than once in a lifetime. The artists, the music, and the locations will change throughout the years, but with the work of EVOYMG, the independent artists, and our supporters, we plan for this Tour to never have a “Last Show”.
In order to reach our goals, we’re asking for your help to raise a minimum of £30, 000. We always do our best with what we’re given, so if you’re feeling extra generous and we end up raising more than the £30, 000, then you can be sure we will use every penny of it to make this tour go farther. For The Domestic (UK) Tour, this is how the £30,000 will be divvied up:
If our total profit is exactly £30,000, then this leaves us with 27,000 for our Tour. And this is what your money will go towards:
*Any extra money raised above the £30,000 will go towards funding The D.I.Y Tour’s ‘Global-Local World Tour’ in 2015. The money will be put towards paying for flights, accommodation, instrument and equipment hire, in-country transportation, as well as advertising and marketing.
Maybe Neverland is releasing their debut EP, Tinkerdust, which includes 6 original songs, and features the beautiful supporting vocals of upcoming solo-artist, JustMillie. The Deluxe Edition will have all 6 songs plus an additional 3 must-haves: Lucy, Lullaby, and Silver Lining.
Instead of taking the new EP on tour this summer, the band has decided to make their first project only available here on Kickstarter. After the 60-day campaign comes to a close, the songs will no longer be available. Click below to listen to previews of the tracks:
*Lullaby and Silver Lining will finish being recorded before the end of April

Really, there are no risks to you. If the project isn’t fully funded then you don’t lose any money. If it is, well, you already know that we’re not going to idly sit back and not fulfill what we've set out to do. In all honesty, the tour will happen regardless of the outcome of this Kickstarter campaign. It might involve traveling to less cities, going at a slower pace than we could have, or not reaching as many people at first, but one way or another the tour will continue on. We are so thankful for the help from all of you fans and supporters, but if we gave up every time something didn’t go as planned, well, we wouldn't be where we are today. Now, you might be thinking that we don’t really need your help then; but we do, because we want to share this experience with you, we want to set the example for other artists out there, we want to change the world of music. We might be able to lead the way, but we can’t go it alone. It’s just as much about you as it is us. So that’s why we're asking if you'd join us in this journey.
If you’re wondering what happens if the artists or musicians drop out and decide not to go on tour, well you can rest easy, because the fate of D.I.Y Tour does not balance on those currently involved in it. That’s the beauty of it. This Tour isn’t our band’s tour, it is a tour to revolutionize independent music, and in turn, all music. So regardless of the current musicians, even though we are going to continue on, there will always be talented independent artists waiting to fill the empty seats on the bus and smash those Tour performances.
The only challenge we will face will be getting all of the rewards to you guys in a timely manner. We don't want to keep you waiting for what is yours, so we will work our hardest to get things to you as quickly as possible. We do ask for your patience though, because if you haven’t already guessed, it’s only us doing this stuff! We don’t have a team of hundreds (yet), so we'll be the ones tracking people down, making the phone calls, pestering the printing shops, counting and sorting the goods, and yes, even licking those envelopes and personally seeing them off in the mail. So please bear with us here, we want to make sure everybody gets their rewards in full. We will keep you posted every step of the way, and inform you of any updates or changes that are made.
Lastly, we have to say thank you! Thank you for reading this long-winded description, thank you for funding this project, and thank you for coming along side us! We are truly grateful.
