To all those in the know, there is no question to the talent, artistry and star quality that Divine possesses. From affiliations with Hip-Hop legend and icon Rakim (of Eric B. & Rakim fame) and Queensbridge pioneer and Hip-Hop legend Tragedy Khadafi, to a NYC's Underground Music Award's nomination for the prestigious "Essence Of Hip-Hop" award in 2010, now comes Divine's official debut album Ghetto Rhymin'.
"EXPLORE A NEW ERA IN HIP-HOP!!!"
"GHETTO RHYMIN'" PROJECT
"Ghetto Rhymin'" is Divine's official debut and full-length studio album that's been several years in the making. It contains 16 tracks (14 full songs & 2 preludes) of pure, classic and street edged Hip-Hop/Rap music. It was produced by several up-and-coming producers both from the States and overseas and executive produced by Divine and Supreme Records A&R and Divine's manager, D. Ayatollah. Divine's been working tirelessly to finalize this album for quite some time, but due to personal and financial obstacles and setbacks its been held up. Divine maintains a strong underground fan base and grassroots following, and this album, though long overdue, remains highly awaited and anticipated by his fans, family, friends, supporters and peers alike. Ghetto Rhymin' has a tentative release date for the first quarter of 2014 and will be released on independent NYC urban record label Supreme Records.
BEING AN INDIE-ARTIST
However, as an independent artist everything has been out-of-pocket and financed by Divine himself. Though he recorded the entire album some time ago in his own personal studio at minimal cost, he opt to finalize the album in a professional studio, due to the unfortunate loss of his own studio recording equipment, and really wanting a final professional polish on the project that would be on the level of a major label artist and release. And though the project was recorded some time ago Divine remained firm and committed to seeing it released, not only due to the strength of the material, but also due to the overall strenuous and challenging effort it took to make and get the album to this point.
So, for almost over the last past year Divine's been in a professional recording studio in the final stages of post-production, mixing and mastering the album at TRIAD Normandy Sound with recording/mixing/mastering engineers Tony Ricci and the legendary Phil Greene (New Edition, New Kids On The Block, etc.). Though at the point of only a few studio sessions left to finalize the album and submit it to the distributor, Divine's finances and budget was abruptly depleted and he's found himself without any capital to complete the project. So close to seeing its release, yet still so far away. Hence, the initiation of this Kickstarter project and fund campaign in hopes that we will be able to raise enough funds to finally finalize the album, manufacture CDs, etc.
KICKSTARTER FUNDS UTILIZATION
If successful, depending on scheduling at the studio, it could take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to finalize the mixing and mastering from the day Divine's 'funded'. Once that's completed and we submit the 'master recording' (CD) to the distributor it will take approximately 6 weeks to get placed into all the digital outlets and officially enter the commercial market digitally. Not only will the funds raised by this Kickstarter campaign go directly to the finalization of the mixing and mastering of Ghetto Rhymin', but we'll also be allocating portions of the funds to the manufacturing of CDs for physical distribution and shooting several music videos for the album, hopefully as well as to other various affordable promotion and marketing campaigns.
It's very expensive to release a professional album independently and indie-album budgets can begin in the tens of thousands. Although Divine has already put so much capital into this album over the years to bring it to this point, our minimum fundraising goal of $7,000. is very modest. If we could possibly raise up to or even beyond $10,000. it would absolutely bring Ghetto Rhymin' to the next level. Our goal is to release this album within the first quarter of 2014 and continue to follow through with efforts throughout the year to make it a successful commercial release. We’re offering some great rewards for pledges and our hopes are that you can aid Divine in making this happen and we extend our utmost thank you and appreciation in advance.

Risks and challenges
Professionally producing and releasing an independent full-length studio album is much harder than most people think. There are significant recording, mixing and mastering costs and scheduling associated with all that an artist creates and one can easily run over budget and miss deadlines. Not to mention manufacturing and marketing and promotion costs, scheduling and deadlines once the record is complete.
Divine and the creation of "Ghetto Rhymin'" have already faced and overcame the hardest of obstacles and challenges in seeing the fruition and release of this album, both personally and financially. Anything beyond that is mere child's play and we're confident that any additional unforeseen minor challenge(s) that have the potential to arise, will be met and dealt with the same resilience those of a more major concern were met and dealt with and eventually overcame.
The greatest challenge we'll face will be projected turnaround times, timelines and scheduling in getting the product to market and continued promotion and marketing campaigns. Such would be the CD manufacturing timeline to be sure its coordinated with the digital release of the album so that they coincide. From there would be coordinating the video production and promotion and marketing campaigns to be sure that they coincide with one another as well, so as to give us the maximum push for the awareness of the album.
Once we have met our minimum Kickstarter goal our first priority will be finalizing the mixing and mastering and sending the album to be manufactured. The time it takes to mix an album varies but we are in the final stages of mixing at this point, and depending on studio availability and scheduling, mastering an album usually takes 1-2 weeks. Manufacturing the album into physical CDs is generally a two week process.
Funds raised will also be utilized to fulfill the pledge rewards that we have offered. The turnaround time needed to create most of these items is within a few weeks. Depending on your geographical location, items may take longer to ship and arrive than others. Getting all the rewards fulfilled will be priority and we'll be working tirelessly to get them produced and shipped out immediately.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
