You use them on your phone all the time, right? Our silicone keyboard cover + custom keyboard software brings the joy and expressive power of emoji to your Mac computer. Whether you are writing an email, or surfing the net, you can access over 150 of your favorite emoji without interrupting your flow.

We have been trying out prototypes for a couple of months and we're almost ready to share the keyboard with you. We're turning to Kickstarter to help us get the funds together for a minimum production run of 1000 keyboard covers.

What is it?
The Emoji Keyboard is not just for looks-- the silicone cover has emoji screen printed right on the keys and combined with our custom keyboard layout software, you can type emoji anytime. Like other keyboard covers, ours also protects your keyboard from dust and liquid.
How does it work?
After you receive your keyboard cover, download our installer to enable the emoji keyboard layout. The software works with Mac OS X just like any other language and is supported by most apps you already use. You can still type with your keyboard as normal, but Caps Lock now activates Emoji Mode. It’s easy to toggle on and off, so the emoji characters are easily accessible and become part of your routine flow.
Which Emoji Can I Type?
Over 150 Emoji will be accessible directly from your keyboard. A single emoji is printed on each key. Using the shift, control, and option keys, you can activate related characters. We put a lot of thought into this layout. Once you explore a bit, you will quickly memorize the locations of your favorite emoji characters. The printed keys are your hieroglyphic guide.
Will it fit my keyboard?
The first iteration is available only for Apple computers with the USA keyboard layout. We’ll offer two sizes, so our cover will fit Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, and Apple Wireless Keyboard.
Who Are You Guys!?
We are Disk Cactus, an art + technology studio in Oakland, CA. We write code, build prototypes and consult on new ideas. We first built the Emoji Keyboard so we could type our own name (yes, our real company name is spelled with the "disk" and "cactus" emoji characters), but soon realized it is a product worth sharing. It seemed a natural fit for a Kickstarter launch, so here we are!
Though our company is new, our team has experience creating and shipping consumer products. Before Disk Cactus, Ben and George co-founded Social Print Studio, makers of Printstagram and Print Studio.
And that great music in the video? It was made by the late, great, King Toad.
Risiken und Herausforderungen
We have the keyboard layout designs finalized, and the installer software is built. We still need to choose the factory that will give us the highest quality product and we're stress testing samples right now.
Once this project is backed, we'll have to order, pack, and ship everything out to you. This can be overwhelming so we are partnering with Social Print Studio to handle fulfillment and customer support as they have been doing this kind of thing for years.
Of course we might run into unexpected delays with the production facilities, shipping and customs - but will do our utmost to get your Emoji Keyboard as soon as possible.
