Chasm is Coming to Switch, PAX West 2018, Instruction Booklet
We also heard from a lot of people that they really want to play Chasm on their Nintendo Switch. Tom Spilman was the obvious person to discuss this with. Not only was he responsible for the pixel perfect port of Chasm on Vita, but he also ported several other games to Nintendo Switch including Axiom Verge. Since he was so familiar with our code base and the hardware, he was able to get things up and running super quickly, and I’m excited to announce that it will be coming to Switch this year! (We’re looking into special Kickstarter backer pricing for the Switch version like we did with PS4, but it’s not looking like it’ll be possible.) If you’re going to PAX, you’ll be able to play it on the show floor in booth 6917!
In addition to all of the feedback about childhood memories and Nintendo Switch, we also got a lot of suggestions of ways to improve the game. Probably the biggest issues people had was with the backdash speed and cooldowns after using the sword. We addressed these in version 1.03 along with a host of other tweaks and improvements. You can find the full list of fixes to the Steam version here.
You may notice at the top of this list is a beta version of new Class modes, including Thief, Mage, and Warrior. This is really only a beginning in terms of ideas we have for adding replayability and new game modes. We hope to be able to announce some of those new game modes in the coming months.
One other thing to mention is that the official Chasm Instruction Booklet is now available for backers! It contains everything from control diagrams, to stat descriptions, to tips and tricks. Backers can grab a PDF copy now on their Humble downloads page (please see this post for more information on how to access your Humble downloads). Please note we are still working on the (much larger) Chasm Compendium for our $50+ backers, and expect to have more news on that coming up soon.
Thanks for your continued support, and we'll be in touch again soon!
